Naruto: Every Main Character's Age At The End Of Shippuden - CBR

After the original Naruto storyline, there was a time skip of about two years during which Naruto went to train with Jiraya. Before he left, the bulk of the characters — including the Konoha 11 — were 12-13 years old. Once Shippuden began, however, they had all turned about 15. The sequel series took place over two years, but most of it happened while Naruto was around 16 years old.

Naruto Shippuden concluded after the Fourth Shinobi World War, and the war ended in October. After everything wrapped up, another two-year time skip showed Naruto and Hinata's wedding. This scene makes up Naruto's ending, before the commencement of the blank period and Boruto: Naruto Next Generations. Here are ten main Naruto characters' ages at the end of Naruto Shippuden.

Updated on September 4, 2023, by Ajay Aravind: Naruto might be long finished, but its characters will always remain integral icons of the shonen genre. With Boruto currently running, fans of the franchise don't have to say goodbye to their favorite people just yet. That said, viewers often wonder about Naruto characters' ages. As such, we've updated this list with some more information and more of the core cast of Shippuden.

15 Iruka

Iruka is one of the most important people in Naruto's life. Although he isn't as relevant as some of the other characters in the anime, Naruto ensures Iruka knows how important he is by asking him to act as his father during his wedding. At the end of Shippuden, Iruka is 27, which is the same age as Kakashi at the end of Part I. His birthday falls on May 26, which makes him just shy of 30 when Naruto and Hinata get married. Iruka is about 10 years older than Naruto, but still treats him like a son and tries to comfort him for all those years.

14 Sai

Sai Yamanaka was a new character who was introduced in Naruto Shippuden, but his late arrival doesn't make him any less important to the main story. Although originally part of the Root subdivision, he learned to overcome his mental limits and become an important part of the group. Sai was Sasuke's replacement for Team 7 when Naruto returned, and he was partnered with Naruto and Sakura. Although they got off to a rough start, he became good friends with them. He developed feelings for Ino and married her in Boruto. Throughout Shippuden, Sai is 17.

13 Orochimaru

54

As one of the legendary Sannin, Orochimaru is older than his appearance suggests, partly due to years of research on how to gain eternal immortality. Throughout Naruto, Orochimaru was in his early 50s ー in other words, he was 54 for the majority of Shippuden. The same could be said for Jiraya and Tsunade. Orochimaru's birthday is October 27th, which means he turned 55 a few weeks after the Ninja War. He should have been 57 during Naruto and Hinata's wedding. During Boruto, Orochimaru is in his late 60s: the same age as the Third Hokage before his death during Part I.

12 Gaara

Gaara is 17 during the final arc of Naruto Shippuden. However, because of his January birthday, he's already 20 during the final scenes of Naruto. He and Sakura are the only people their age to already be 20, while everyone else remains 19 for a few more months. Gaara is the youngest sibling between him, Temari, and Kankuro, but he still looks older than the bulk of the characters. Gaara eventually becomes the Fifth Kazekage of Suna Village, and he spends the rest of his time protecting and caring for the inhabitants.

11 Shikamaru

17

Shikamaru turns 17 just before the war. Shikamaru is about two weeks older than Naruto, but behaves as though he's much older than the latter. Shikamaru is also 19 during the last scene of the series and for the majority of the blank period. While Shikamaru was 17, Temari was already 20. Shikamaru goes on to shatter all expectations by proving himself diligent and confident, despite having a reputation for laziness. He's clearly one of the smartest characters in Naruto, explaining why he becomes the Eighth Hokage.

10 Hinata

16

As a relatively minor character, fans complained that Hinata Hyuga deserved a lot more attention than she received over the course of the story. Throughout most of Shippuden, Hinata was 16 years old. She has a late birthday, making her the youngest in the Konoha 11. She was 16 at the end of the war and turned 17 a couple of months after. Hinata married Naruto while she was 19, giving birth to Boruto about a year later when she was 20, which consequently made her 22 when she had Himawari. This makes Hinata about 31 to 32 years old during Naruto Shippuden.

9 Kakashi

31

Kakashi was 31 years old in Shippuden — during the Fourth Shinobi World War. His birthday is in September, which means he was only one month into being 31 at that time. This also means that he was about 31 or 32 when he became Hokage, making him the youngest Kage to earn the rank. When Naruto and Hinata get married, it is 2 and a half years after the war, making him 33. Kakashi is best known for his leadership talents, but his fighting skills and combat prowess are just as impressive. Regardless of age, very few people are capable of defeating him.

8 Rock Lee

17

Belonging to the Lee clan of Hidden Leaf Village, Rock Lee is about the same age as the rest of the main heroes. He enters Naruto at 14 and ends Shippuden at around 17 years old. Being born in November, Lee's relatively late birthday makes him younger than many of his peers. Rock Lee originally couldn't utilize either genjutsu or ninjutsu, but he works extremely hard until he learns how to master the art of taijutsu. Rock Lee's optimistic attitude is occasionally undercut by his enthusiasm, but his most important feature is that he refuses to break his oaths, no matter the consequences.

7 Konohamaru

12

Almost every anime protagonist has a younger character who wants to emulate them. Konohamaru Sarutobi worships both Naruto and the ground he walks on. While his devotion can be annoying at times, Naruto eventually acknowledges Konohamaru's eagerness and becomes his unofficial mentor. Despite being the Hokage's grandson, he wants nothing more than to step out from under his grandfather's shadow. This dedication is rarely seen among people twice his age, and Konohamaru is barely twelve years old at the end of Naruto Shippuden. Thankfully, he sheds his immature habits before this happens.

6 Tsunade

55

Tsunade uses chakra-enhanced strength as she looks angrily at someone in Naruto.

As the most powerful kunoichi in the world, Tsunade is an incredibly precious asset to Konohagakure as well as the Konoha 11. She becomes the Hidden Leaf Village's Fifth Hokage after refusing the offer many times, but she's still around 51 years old at this point. Tsunade's relevance increases drastically in Naruto: Shippuden, where she plays a critical role during the Fourth Shinobi World War. All things considered, Tsunade only abandons her former skepticism after interacting with Naruto. The fact that a 55-year-old woman is forced to change her worldview because of a teenager would have been unbelievable if it hadn't been a shonen protagonist.
