Nate Diaz Reveals UFC Retirement Plans, Wants One More Fight

Nate Diaz has confirmed that his retirement is just around the corner. But he won’t hang up the gloves until he’s given the fans one last blood and guts war.
The Stockton superstar has captivated the world with his outspoken nature and unbelievable performances. He’ll be sadly missed by MMA enthusiasts around the globe. But perhaps his choice of opponent for his swan song will soften the blow. Diaz wants to share the octagon with the one and only Dustin Poirier.
The 36-year-old told TMZ that he intends on finally ending his rivalry with ‘The Diamond’ before settling down to enjoy his deserved retirement.

He said: “I would like to fight Dustin Poirier. Like now. Like I’ve been trying to. If there’s any mix-up, it’s him, and them, and the game. I want the fight now. What’s up, Dana White? Let’s get this retirement fight cracking so I can get out of this fight game. I’m done with it.”
The eagerly awaited match-up between two of the most beloved stars in the company has been brewing for years. They were initially scheduled to face off at UFC 230 in November 2018. But Poirier sustained an injury that resulted in the cancellation of the fan-friendly fight. However, ‘The Diamond’ has confirmed that the contest finally looks like it’s coming to fruition.
Nate Diaz vs Dustin Poirier is imminent
The Louisianna native spoke to the media during UFC 271 fight week and teased the fans with some optimistic comments.

Poirier claimed: “I think there’s a good chance it’s going to happen. Summer is a good target. I don’t think I’m going to stay at 170 pounds, but this fight makes sense.
“At this stage I need to be in fights that mean something to me. I grew up watching him, I respect him and his brother, and stylistically it’d be a good one for the fans. It’d be a fight of the year type of fight.”
In typical Diaz fashion, he’s not looking for an easy way out of the fight game. He’s gone for the most challenging opponent he could fight, and regardless of the result, it’s this attitude that endears him to sporting enthusiasts. And just because he’s done in the world’s premier promotion doesn’t mean he’s finished altogether.
Will we ever see the Stockton man fight again?
Diaz hasn’t been very active in recent years. The legend has only set foot in the octagon on three occasions since his loss to Conor McGregor back in 2016. However, money talks.
Most would expect him to enjoy the rest of his life partying and smoking whatever he can get his hands on. But instead of relaxing on a bean bag, he might try and fight a bean bag in the world of celebrity boxing.
Jake Paul still needs opponents, and there’s no doubt that Diaz would believe he’d win that contest. And with several million on the line, why wouldn’t he take it?
