The release date for NBA 2K20 has been set for this week and is already available to download on PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.

The pre-load is going live today, meaning fans who have digitally pre-ordered can get ready for the full launch on September 6.

This is the official release date for NBA 2K20, which does not include an early tip-off for gamers on PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.

Access is reportedly being granted to everyone at the same time, depending on where you live in the world. However, some stores will be selling the game early on September 5, at around 9pm local time - more about that below.

It should also be noted that there is an NBA 2K20 demo available to download and play now for those itching to try out the MyPLAYER Builder.

(UPDATE: A 2K spokesperson has confirmed to the Express Online that the NBA 2K20 release time has been set for midnight, September 6, in the UK.)

According to the latest reports, the NBA 2K20 release time has been set for midnight locally.

That means everyone should be able to jump on and play in the UK on September 6, from midnight.

Things are being treated a little differently in the United States, with midnight EST being the set launch time.

That means some gamers will get access a few hours early, especially if they live in the PST time zone.

Any changes to this schedule will likely be shared on the game’s social media channels before launch.

It should also be noted that some retailers, like the Microsoft Store, has listed NBA 2K20 going live at 6pm in the UK on September 5. 

The UK PlayStation Store also lists September 5 as the expected launch date, with the US store listing midnight EST as the official release time on September 6.

Most of the above information is based around the digital launch of the game, meaning things might be a little different for those buying it off the shelf.

Some stores will be selling NBA 2K20 earlier, on September 5, before the official release date.

And with servers expected to be turned on quite early on September 5, it means some gamers might start playing before the official release time.

It will be worth calling your local store and finding out if this is something they are planning to do. There is no guarantee that this will be an event that every NBA 2K fans will be able to take advantage of.

As an example, Best Buy has confirmed that NBA 2K20 will be available to buy on September 5 at around 9pm, from most of their stores.

The same goes for Gears 5, Borderlands 3 and FIFA 20 when they are released later in 2019.
