According to the league rulebook, all overtime periods will last five minutes. Whoever is in the lead when the clock hits zero will be the winner. If both teams are tied at the end of an overtime period, they will play an additional period to see if a winner is determined.
There has been one overtime game in the 2002 NBA Playoffs thus far, and that was Game 3 between the Philadelphia 76ers and Toronto Raptors. With the score tied at 101 with 2.6 seconds remaining, 76ers star Joel Embiid hit a 27-foot three-pointer to give the team the eventual 104-101 victory.
