Lifetime Gold Member Jun 4, 1999 11,304 Somewhere, Out Here, In the World Yup- the guideline is 4 feet (48"). Can't build loading docks properly if truck deck heights are all over the place. That being said- as people have pointed out- this height can vary by quite a few inches depending on load and suspension- thus why ramps (from a dock) are standard equipment for trailer loading. It's too high for an engine hoist to put anything on the flatbed, if that's what you're trying to do. OTOH, most LTL companies will have a trailer with a tailgate on it come to you, so all you have to do is get it on the tailgate and the gate lifts the load. You must log in or register to reply here.
