  • If you have a question about your TAP or other New York State aid, please check to see whether it appears below. There are also frequently asked questions for federal loans and financial aid. If you don't see your question, please contact the Office of Financial Aid.

    • When will my TAP aid be disbursed?

Your TAP award is officially disbursed two to three weeks after the add/drop period ends, to allow for verification of full-time enrollment. In the meantime, your TAP award is listed on your invoice with the notation "expected to be paid."

    • When will my APTS aid be disbursed?

Your APTS award is disbursed at the end of the semester. HESC requires that you maintain a C average for each semester in which you have applied for APTS. Your APTS award is scheduled for disbursement shortly after your grades are posted for that semester.

    • Do I qualify for TAP as a part-time student?

No, but you may be eligible for APTS if you are enrolled in courses carrying 3 to 11 credits.

    • How many semesters can I receive TAP aid?
      • If you are in a two-year undergraduate program, you can receive TAP aid for up to six semesters, equivalent to 36 payment points (6 points per semester).
      • If you are in a four-year undergraduate program, you can receive TAP aid for up to eight semesters, equivalent to 48 payment points.
      • If you are in a five-year undergraduate program, such as BA/BFA, you can receive TAP aid for up to ten semesters, equivalent to 60 payment points.
