Go back to my question iPhone User profile for user: AJ.PARKER88 AJ.PARKER88 Author User level: Level 1 29 points No Caller ID vs. Unknown Caller on iPhone

Why does the same number calling me appear differently in my call log? Sometimes it says Unknown and the other times it says No Caller ID. I know it’s the same person calling but why the different titles? I have at&t if it matters and the other person has Verizon. Any help would be appreciated.

  • All incoming calls display same CID # and location For the last month, every incoming call I receive on my iPhone 8 shows the same phone number/location (Wisconsin) on caller ID. My recent calls never show the number though. This makes it appear every incoming call is spam; I answer only if I’m expecting a call. I’ve tried rebooting multiple times and the problem never improved and certainly didn’t resolve. And yes, I know it’s an older model device but it worked just fine until now. The Apple store and my carrier were equally unhelpful as both pointed the finger at the other. I don’t care who’s at fault; I just want it fixed so don’t have to play a cell phone version Russian roulette. 1975 1

“No Caller ID” means just that - the caller overtly blocked their ID from being displayed.

”Unknown Caller” means a caller ID was provided but not recognized.

@sberman so “no caller id” would be a *67 situation then? And I’m not sure what you mean by “not recognized” Referring to the “unknowns caller”

That is indeed one method to create this.

”Not recognized” means your cellular carrier did not associate this with a phone number.
