Mild-mannered Norbit (Eddie Murphy) has always had it rough, since the day he was left abandoned at a combination Chinese restaurant and orphanage. Recently forced to marry the shrewish glutton Rasputia, he is at wit's end. Then his childhood sweetheart, Kate (Thandie Newton), moves back to town, and he tries to figure out a way back to his true love.

Big "Winner" Lindsay Lo a No-Show at Razzie Awards

Lindsay Lohan and Eddie Murphy took top honors at this weekend's 28th annual Golden Raspberry Awards, also affectionately known as the “Razzie” awards, held at Magicopolis in Santa Monica. Both Lohan and Murphy broke a Razzie record by scoring multiple gold spray-painted trophies; Lindsay actually tied with herself to win the Worst Actress category for her portrayal as twins Aubrey and Dakota in I Know Who Killed Me. Lohan’s movie also took the awards for Worst Picture, Worst Screen Couple (Aubrey and Dakota), Worst Director, Worst Screenplay and Worst Excuse for a Horror Movie. It was Murphy’s work in Norbit that netted him three Razzies, including Worst Actor, Worst Supporting Actress (for Murphy’s turn as Rasputia) and Worst Supporting Actor (for his portrayal of Mr. Wong). Eddie Murphy Scores a Record Five Razzie Nods

"We decided that each of his characters [in Norbit] was so offensive that he deserved individual nominations." So says John Wilson, founder of the Razzie Awards recognizing the worst in cinema. Also receiving more than one "acknowledgment" for the same flick was Lindsay Lohan, cited twice for her dual roles in I Know Who Killed Me (which earned nine total Razzie noms, more than any other dud of '07). Besides Norbit and IKWKM, the contenders for worst movie of the year are Bratz, Daddy Day Camp and I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry. Personally, I would've included Rob Zombie's incomprehensible Halloween retread on this list, but I'm sure there were even lamer flicks. On Wednesday's The Late Late Show, Scotsman Craig Ferguson, fueled by his longing to become a U.S citizen, launched a campaign to become an honorary citizen of cities across America, starting with Ozark, Arkansas. Later today, info will be posted at CBS.com on how fans can support his campaign.... Norbit (somehow) topped the DVD sales and rental charts last week. The Messengers came in at No. 2.... Pirates of the Caribbean 3 has passed the $500 million mark globally, and in just 20 days.... Why is [email protected] spamming my e-mailbox with "raves" about a certain new CBS drama series? Your thinly veiled PR campaign is making me hate the show out of principle.

Box Office: Eddie Murphy to Hannibal, "Chew on This!"

The critically railed comedy Norbit, starring Eddie Murphy, Eddie Murphy and Eddie Murphy, topped the weekend box office, earning $33.7 million. That easily bested second-placer Hannibal Rising, which feasted on $13.35 mil in its own debut.Rounding out the top five were Because I Said So ($9 million), The Messengers ($7.2 mil) and Night at the Museum ($5.75 mil).
