Note BlockBy Luis Joshua GutierrezSamuel HeaneyDan Hammill+39.9k moreUpdated: Sep 17, 2021 5:40am UTC

<minecraftrecipe>Note Block</minecraftrecipe> Note Blocks are blocks that will play a single musical note every time they are hit (left-clicked) or powered by Redstone. To Craft a Note Block, go into your Crafting Table, place a single piece of Redstone dust in the center square and surround it with Wooden Planks.

To change the tone a Note Block will play, right-click the block. Each time the block is right-clicked, the tone will increase by a half step. There are two octaves of notes a Note Block can play. For example, in order to go from an F# (the default note) to an A in the second octave, you would need to right-click the block 15 times.

When powered by Redstone, a Note Block will only play once. That is, even if the note block remains powered, the note won't play continuously. Still, if a player has the necessary amount of determination and ingenuity, it is completely possible to create Redstone-powered chimes, instruments, and songs.
