Let's make some perfect popcorn! You can air pop your popcorn or use whatever popping method you prefer.

✓ Ingredients and substitutions
- popcorn kernels - You can pop these however you like. I use my air popper, because it's the easiest!
- salt - Salt brings out the cheesy flavor of the nutritional yeast.
- nutritional yeast - The reason we are making this popcorn!
- melted vegan butter - You can use coconut oil if you don't want to use vegan butter.
🥣 How to make nutritional yeast popcorn

Pop your popcorn using your preferred method, then transfer it to a large container with a lid.

Meanwhile, add the nutritional yeast and salt to your blender or food processor and pulse until it becomes a fine powder.

Drizzle the melted vegan butter onto the popcorn, then sprinkle on the nutritional yeast mixture.

Close the lid of the container, and shake well to coat the popcorn in all of that good, good nutritional yeast!

💡 Helpful tips
- Grinding the nutritional yeast and salt together helps it stick to the popcorn. You can skip this step, but it won't work as well.
- Shaking thoroughly is the other trick to getting nutritional yeast to stick to popcorn. Don't skip the thorough shake!!
🫙 Storage directions
This popcorn is best eaten immediately, but you can keep the leftovers for up to five days in a sealed container in the pantry.
💬 Frequently asked questions
What the heck is nutritional yeast?Nutritional yeast (aka "nooch") doesn't sound exciting, but it's a pretty magical ingredient. It has a slightly cheesy flavor that's great in vegan cheese sauces, sprinkled over rice or pasta, or in place of parmesan cheese in vegan pesto. But my favorite thing to do with nooch is put copious amounts over freshly-popped popcorn.
How do you get nutritional yeast to stick to popcorn? There are two keys to getting the nutritional yeast to stick:❶ Grind it up into a fine powder with the salt, which sticks better to popcorn.❷ Shake the popcorn thoroughly after drizzling on the melted vegan butter and sprinkling on the nutritional yeast/salt mixture.
Is nutritional yeast vegan?Yes! It's a type of yeast, and yeast is vegan.
What does nutritional yeast taste like?Nooch has a mild, cheesy flavor. It's perfect for making vegan cheese sauces or adding some cheesiness to pretty much any recipe.

📝 Notes
Nutritional yeast popcorn is best eaten immediately, but you can keep the leftovers for up to five days in a sealed container in the pantry. Variation - You can add other seasonings to this, as well. I love adding in about ¼ teaspoon dried jalapeño powder for spicy nutritional yeast popcorn or ¼ to ½ teaspoon smoked paprika for a smoky flavor.Nutrition
