Oct 25, 2017 3,569 I've been having the same issues for the past 2 months. I've seen it disable when watching Content protected videos on Netflix and such (which it always has) But Now It's been disabling randomly and sometimes without the notification...Alvis

If there isn't enough free space it will turn off right after turning it on.

Member Jun 17, 2018 9,110 I made a thread on this that got zero replies so I just assumed it was an isolated incident till my friends mentioned similar issues and the Nvidia forums are plagued with this same question. This has to be fairly widespread? It either straight up disables itself and won't let me re-enable, or it'll tank my 99% FPS to 1 which in turn forces me to disable it. The issue has persisted throughout my upgrades from a GTX 1060 - RTX 2080 - RTX 3080. I wish Nvidia would acknowledge the problem because I used to love using shadowplay. The Turbanator

I'll have to keep an eye and see if that's the case for me

It never really was an issue for me tbh as I was only really recording rocket league replays so I could start it up as and when needed.

Member Oct 27, 2017 4,685 A lot of websites and features will disable it if you have it set to record desktop apps, I've noticed. Netflix, HBO Max, iTunes I think. You have to turn it back on (helpful to set a hotkey for it) after using anything besides games. I think certain Game Pass/Windows apps disable it by default as well, not sure if that's intended or just a bug.Allietraa

Member Mar 13, 2019 3,022 This is a "known" issue and I've never seen anyone actually consistently diagnose it. I mean some of the things ITT are surely correct for some people's systems but myself and some people on reddit/nvidia forums have had this happen randomly over time with specific driver/GFE versions on different GPUs, different entire platforms, reinstalling windows, etc with no real rhyme or reason(beyond just X or Y driver being more/less buggy for a given person). A while back I spent weeks crawling all over the internet trying every half-baked "suggestion" I could find and the ONLY thing that works is just trying a different driver version fwiw I did swap to the Nvidia Studio drivers last year and havent had as many issues with it randomly disabling itself but that could easily just be coincidence cuz it's not like i went and A-B tested the same version number of Studio/Game Ready drivers lolRGB

Look for replay buffer. (I use it for this exact reason, as a PC analog to console continuous recording) Spoiler: Image

Member Oct 27, 2017 1,279 Indiana I was having this struggle constantly with games. As people mentioned it definitely is impacted at times by things like YouTube, streaming services, etc. But it also seems to just bugs out at certain times and with certain games regardless of having anything else open. I first noticed the problem with Outriders when occasionally while playing it would just turn off and back on periodically for no reason. When it was doing this, it was locking up the game as well. For me, the issues are with the desktop recording feature. With it turned off (it only records games when they are open now) I have no longer had issues. But yeah, I've seen constant comments from folks about this but no response from Nvidia. OP OPDeleted member 12323

Click to shrink...yeah this issue just pops up occasionally every few weeks/months across drivers. its impossible to diagnose. the times i notice its shut itself off is when i was wanting to clip something important, and it's just not enabled. disabling desktop recording seems to fix it a lot of the time? but it was shut off the other day so clearly that's not it
