About Italian Heritage Month

Enacted into law in 1999, The Commonwealth of Massachusetts declared October as Italian Heritage Month, to be marked annually by Governor’s Proclamation. Commencing in the House Chambers of the State House, the Italian Heritage Month Committee officiates a grand ceremony that inaugurates a month of celebrations of Italian excellence and heritage, echoing the United States’ observance established by a Congressional Resolution of October as Italian-American Heritage Month.

We Celebrate Our Heritage.

Italy, often called the birthplace of Western civilization, is an unparalleled blend of history, art, culture, science, architecture, gastronomic delights, and natural beauty. At the heart of our culture is a very strong emphasis on family and community, a bond that unites us all and makes us part of a larger whole.

Our beautiful country, with its rich history and cultural heritage, has left an indelible mark on art, fashion, and culture globally, and continues to be a major influence on modern design, art, literature, science, and technology. This global influence is a testament to our country’s creative and artistic prowess.

Beyond our treasured and rich heritage, Italian design is celebrated in industries such as automotive (Ferrari, Maserati), furniture, and architecture. Always with a strong emphasis on aesthetics, our design philosophy leads to innovative and timeless creations that inspire the world.
