ST. LOUIS — Preserved animal specimens, horror inspired artwork, and funeral collectibles are just a few eccentric items from 150 local and national vendors that will be displayed at The Oddities Curiosities Expo Saturday, July 23, in St. Louis.
The event will take place at America's Center Convention Complex in downtown where vendors and small businesses will showcase taxidermy, antiques, handcrafted oddities, quack medical devices, creepy clothing, odd jewelry, skulls, bones and more, according to a press release.
A few St. Louis vendors at the expo will be The Darkness Haunted House, Pinch of Peculiar and Art Guy Designs / Odditikis.
"The Oddities and Curiosities Expo was created purely out of the excitement of bringing communities we care about together through events,” said Michelle Cozzaglio, who owns the expo with her husband, Tony.
“Honestly, we had no idea it would turn into what it has today! Our goal has always been to uplift those around us while giving everyone, including ourselves, the opportunity to truly do what they love."
The Cozzaglios are long-time collectors of oddities and obscure memorabilia and they own a record store, a screen printing business, as well as operate punk festivals across the country, according to the press release.
After realizing there is a market for this type of large scale event, the Cozzaglios have been taking The Oddities and Curiosities Expo on the road from coast to coast for the past five years.
Next Saturday’s expo also will offer a day-long taxidermy class where attendees will learn how to make a two-headed duckling mount, as well as a Rainy Day Revival and their Museum of Marvelous Mutations, a 1600-square-foot carnival sideshow reminiscent of big top attractions of the early 1900s, according to the press release.
The sideshow will feature “The World’s Largest Traveling Freak Show” and have a chance to meet Simon, the Cyclops Lamb, and Beefcake, the Bulldog Calf.
