Every time I slam on the brake harder then average, my oil pressure light comes on. It comes of when I release the brake. Anyone else experienced this ? What may cause this light to come on (except of course low oil pressure itself) and what does it have to do with brakes? Either you are low on oil (most likely) or there is a problem with the pickup tube. Reply sinewave View Public Profile Send a private message to sinewave Visit sinewave's homepage! The dipstick is defective, making you think the engine has enough oil when it actually does not. Reply Daniel B. Martin View Public Profile Find More Posts by Daniel B. Inadequate brake fluid can cause the Brake warning light to flash when the car is braked. Zaebis reported a different problem. His Oil warning light flashes when the car is braked. Reply Daniel B. I tried adding but I didn't want to add to much. My dip stick shows completely coted. I don't think my dip stick is diping into the right area. I changed the oil and added excatly 5 quarts, still the same thing is happening ... the oil light comes on after a while. It starts off dim and after a while gets brighter. All the simptoms of it just not having enough oil. It goes away when I turn off the engine and then reappers after 5 minutes of driving. Oil sensor? Loose conection? Its not leaking out anywhere? "Dam you electrical gremlins!!!" The VQ dipstick is a tricky thing If it's dim at first then grows brighter, I would first replace the OPSU and check the wiring. It should just be an on/off indicator light, as the sending unit is nothing but a NO switch to ground. Reply pmohr View Public Profile Send a private message to pmohr Visit pmohr's homepage!
