Omni-Man Vs Superman: Who Is Stronger In The Comics - Screen Rant

Invincible's Omni-Man and Superman are two super-powered aliens that could demolish whole planets if they wanted to, but who is stronger? Omni-Man is a ruthless warrior who is more often covered in gore than clothes. But Superman is the strongest being ever, with almost no worthy challengers.

Image Comics took the idea behind an ultra-powerful alien like Superman and made a comic all about what a being with that type of power would do to fragile humans. Omni-Man, of Robert Kirkman, Cory Walker, and Ryan Ottley’s Invincible, is a Viltrumite sent to Earth to conquer it and make it a breeding ground to strengthen the Viltrumite Empire, a Spartan-like group of super-strong aliens with thousand-year lifespans and near-invulnerability. Omni-Man has super strength, super speed, and the ability to fly similar to Superman. But DC Comics’ flagship hero has just about every conceivable power and strength to which the upper bound has never really been found. Would Omni-Man stand a chance against the Man of Steel?

Omni-Man begins Invincible as a bloodthirsty conqueror with zero empathy for puny humans, leveling portions of cities and wantonly killing thousands just to prove a point to his son, Invincible, that humanity is below the Viltrumites. Omni-Man shows no restraint in killing Invincible’s version of the Justice League and only backed off of killing his son after realizing he actually did care for his family. Omni-Man would later go on to betray the Viltrumite Empire and with the help of his son and another Viltrumite defector, the three of them were able to fly through the center of their home planet and destroy the Viltrum Empire.

Omni-Man has shown a willingness to slaughter anyone that gets in his way, a far cry from the noble Superman who constantly holds his strength back. Superman’s restraint is the only thing that prevents his foes from turning to bloody mush under one of his blows or disintegrating in his solar vision. That doesn’t mean Superman hasn’t gotten his hands dirty as Superman has killed a few foes. But would he hold back when faced with the nearly invulnerable Omni-Man?

Based on raw strength, Superman probably has Omni-Man beat. Omni-Man punched holes through pretty much every foe he came into contact with. He has bested many fellow Viltrumites but was defeated by Viltrum Emperor Thraag. Omni-Man’s son, Invincible, has hinted that he may be stronger than his father despite being half-Earthling. Omni-Man has defeated countless monsters and even aliens that can wound Viltrumites. But Superman is a whole other story.

Superman can only be injured by Kryptonite, nuclear explosions, and magic. Omni-Man has access to none of these. Superman typically isn’t prone to killing his enemies, opting to defeat and demoralize them instead (with limited long-term success). But Omni-Man has no such qualms. He would try to kill Superman outright, but he would probably just break his fists against the invulnerable Superman. Omni-Man is remarkably durable, but the full force of Superman has never been tested. His power is truly limitless. If Superman wanted to he could obliterate Omni-Man. Superman would have to go beyond his typical moral bounds if he wanted to defeat Omni-Man, but if he didn’t hold back Superman would beat the mustachioed powerhouse.
