I bought an external microphone for conducting live broadcasts on Instagram.

I checked on a simple video recording. Everything is OK. Without a microphone and with it - different sound.

I turn on the microphone in the phone on the air-nothing changes. What's with him, what's without him. And judging by the noise on the recording around, the phone just stops seeing the microphone on the streams...

Very poorly found in the Internet information that this is a common problem with apples, but did not find a solution.

Who knows what to do?

When the phone is on the air on a tripod a kilometer away from the speaker, without an additional microphone, the sound is saved in the g-format...

  • CarPlay microphone not working properly on iOS16 on iPhone 14 ProMax I have two iPhone 14 Pro Maxes that I got last week that are running iOS 16. Since upgrading my phones, when I connect to either of my cars (both Subarus) via Apple cable to CarPlay and make a call, the caller can barely hear me. Prior to upgrade, I had an iPhone 11 Pro Max and an iPhone 12 Pro Max using CarPlay in these same vehicles using the same cables and people could hear me clear as ever. Actually, I was always very impressed at how clearly the microphone picked up and filtered out background noise. So is this problem iOS 16? Or is it the iPhone 14 Pro Maxes? I’ve not tested to see if it’s using the phone’s microphone or not. I just know that I sound like I’m VERY far away from the mic and very quiet. If I’m on a call and unplug from CarPlay or just tap my speakerphone button, they can hear me perfectly fine. So I don’t think it’s using my phone’s microphone… or if it is, it’s using it in regular phone mode, not speakerphone mode. I make many calls from the car, so this is not good! I also had Subaru update my head unit (factory) to the latest version just to ensure it wasn’t something with my car. But it’s happening with two phones, two cars, so I think we can say it’s definitely the phones/iOS. 8062 24
  • 30 pin adapter not working on ios 16 For many years I have used a TASCAM iM2 external microphone with my iPhone using a lightning to 30 pin adapter. It was working great with my iPhone 12 Pro up to iOS 15.7.1. Recently I updated to iOS 16.1.1 and the microphone no longer works. It is not recognized by any audio or video recording apps. Has Apple dropped support for the 30 pin adapter in iOS 16, or is this a bug that may be fixed in a later release? 2614 12
  • Speech to text not working while connected to blue tooth in my Tesla Speech to text works fine on my iPhone when I am not connected to my Tesla (using my phone as a key to the car). However, once I connect to the car after pressing the speech to text button in the messaging app (or any other app) it appears that the microphone is not receiving any input when I speak. Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities! It sounds like you have an issue using an external microphone with your iPhone. We suggest checking out this article If the microphones on your iPhone aren't working. This will allow you to troubleshoot issues with the external microphone not working properly when connected to your iPhone with an app:

"If the microphone doesn't work in a specific app

  1. Go to Settings > Privacy > Microphone.
  2. Make sure that the app is enabled.
  3. If the app has permission to access your microphone, or if it isn't listed, contact the app developer."

We also recommend checking out this article If an app on your iPhone or iPad stops responding, closes unexpectedly, or won’t open since the issue seems to be isolated to Instagram. This article will give you steps to take for issues with an app not working properly on your device.
