Fans of On My Block have had to wait an entire year for the next series to be released on Netflix today (Wednesday, March 11). The series came to a dramatic end as Monse Finne (played by Sierra Capri) said she was going to an all-girls boarding school just before her, Cesar Diaz (played by Diego Tinoco), Ruby Martinez (Jason Genao) and Jamal Turner (Brett Gray) were all kidnapped. Series two came to an end before we could find out who was behind it, leaving the show on a major cliffhanger.

Where is On My Block set?

On My Block is set in South Central Los Angeles in California where the group of teenagers face not only typical high school challenges but real danger as they continually try to help keep their former gang member friend Cesar safe.

More specifically, On My Block is set in the fictional neighbourhood of Freeridge which is a predominately Hispanic and African-American community.

Freeride is ruled by opposing gangs The Santos and The Prophets with the group of friends somehow ending up in the middle of many of their ongoing dramas.

Where is On My Block filmed?

As On My Block is set in Los Angeles, the filming for the series also takes place in LA, California.

Freeridge is said to be in South Central LA but fans of the show have stated that it is actually filmed in Burbank which is northwest of downtown Los Angeles.

Speaking on Reddit, one fan said: “I was doing research and in Season 1 Episode 9, Abuelita pulls out a map trying to make a cross.

“This map is very resembling to Burbank which is around north of Los Angeles.

“You can even see the mountains from Burbank in the backdrop.

“I posted this because nobody knows where On My Block is filmed, and also many people actually believe it is filmed in South Central Los Angeles.”

In response, a second commented: “I’m from LA and I recognised Burbank instantly.

“It kinda bothered me because every time they mentioned “Freeridge” and how dangerous it is I couldn’t get it out of my head that they were actually in Burbank which is really a nice, sleepy town haha far from what South LA is like, lol [sic].”

Numerous Reddit users were discussing where exactly the show was filmed when someone confirmed the exact locations.

They said: “It’s actually on Lake Street and Santa Anita Ave in Burbank, CA.

“I live on the other side of the street of the neighbourhood filming location.

“We actually get notice from Netflix whenever they film. I started watching out of curiosity because of this.”

Season one of On My Block came to a dramatic end as gang member Latrelle (Jahking Guillory) shot Ruby and Olivia at her quinceañera and while he was injured, she was killed by the bullet.

Season two started with fans finding out about Olivia and throughout the entirety of the series, you could see Ruby’s journey in dealing with his loss.

Monse and Cesar announced that they were a proper couple and things seemed to be going well until she told him she wanted to move to Brentwood to be with her mum Julia (Lisa Marcos) who she had just met after abandoning her when she was little.

Furious at her wanting to leave him behind, they broke up and during this time he slept with someone else.

However, Monse wanted to get back together until he told her about the other girl and have now officially broken up.

Jamal found the RollerWorld money which was about $250,000 but becomes paranoid someone is going to steal it so enlists his friends to take it in turns to protect it.

But as the money was stolen and the bills were marked, they had to come up with a way to “clean” the money so it was usable.

So they came up with a plan to launder the cash through a company called Money Bunny which works.

The gang also ended up tricking The Prophets, giving them the dirty dollar bills and calling the police so the gang was then arrested.

Everything started to look a bit more positive without The Prophets hanging about but this was until they were kidnapped off the street.

But is this The Prophets’ plan to get their revenge on the young group of friends?
