Frequently Asked Questions

Expand All Collapse All Fast, Free Wi-Fi Expand All Collapse All Why do some aircraft offer free Wi-Fi and I have to pay on others?

We are on a journey to bring fast, free Wi-Fi to every flight. While we transition our aircraft to the equipment necessary to support free Wi-Fi, there are some flights that still require payment to access Wi-Fi.

Fast, free Wi-Fi is currently available on the majority of domestic U.S. and international flights. For our current Wi-Fi availability per region, please review our Wi-Fi Coverage Map., Go to footer note

Flight Attendants are also available to assist.

How do I connect to Delta’s onboard Wi-Fi?

Once the boarding door closes, switch your device to Airplane Mode and turn your Wi-Fi on. Choose “DeltaWiFi.com” from the list of available networks.

If you’re on an aircraft with Delta Sync Wi-Fi, you'll be redirected to the Delta Sync Wi-Fi experience where you can log in to your existing SkyMiles account, enroll in SkyMiles for free or pay for a Wi-Fi Flight Pass. If you’re on an aircraft equipped with Wi-Fi Onboard (formerly Gogo), you'll be redirected to the Wi-Fi portal where you’ll be able to purchase a flight pass or select free messaging.

If the page doesn't load automatically, type "deltawifi.com" into your internet search browser to be directed to the Delta Sync Wi-Fi log-in page.

How do I message on board?

Messaging services are included in Delta Sync Wi-Fi, and messaging is free on all flights with Wi-Fi Onboard (formerly Gogo). Refer to the steps above to connect. Once you are connected to Wi-Fi, you can message using messaging apps such as iMessage, Facebook Messenger or WhatsApp on compatible devices.

SMS is also supported; however, this functionality may be delayed by up to 15 minutes after connecting to Wi-Fi. You must also have Wi-Fi calling enabled within your device settings for SMS to function during flight. For multimedia messaging between iOS and Android devices, iPhones must be running iOS 18 or later with RCS messaging turned on in Settings. MMS is not currently supported.

How many devices can I connect to Delta Sync Wi-Fi? You can connect an unlimited number of devices to free Wi-Fi by navigating to deltawifi.com and logging into your SkyMiles account on each device. What devices are supported on Delta’s onboard Wi-Fi? You can connect from most Wi-Fi enabled Android, iOS, macOS and Windows devices, including mobile phones, tablets and laptops. Why do I lose Wi-Fi coverage in some parts of the world? Wi-Fi coverage continues to progress, and we are working toward offering near-global coverage of Wi-Fi. While this work happens, there will be coverage gaps where Wi-Fi is not available. How do I access exclusive offers and content on Delta Sync Wi-Fi? Exclusive offers and content are available to all SkyMiles Members who log into Delta Sync Wi-Fi on board their flight. While connected to the “DeltaWiFi.com” network, simply sign into Delta Sync Wi-Fi with your existing SkyMiles account or join the SkyMiles program for free on deltawifi.com. I've logged in but I'm still unable to access exclusive offers or content on Delta Sync Wi-Fi. What should I do?

If you're using an Apple device with iCloud+ and have Private Relay turned on, you may not be able to access exclusive offers and content on Delta Sync Wi-Fi. This is because Private Relay masks your IP address, which can interfere with offer eligibility and content delivery.

To turn off Private Relay:

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Tap your Apple ID at the top (your name).
  3. Select iCloud.
  4. Tap Private Relay.
  5. Toggle Private Relay off.

Flights equipped with Delta Sync Wi-Fi offer fast, free Wi-Fi for all SkyMiles Members. Can I transfer a Flight Pass to a different device? Flight passes are non-transferrable across devices. If I paid for Wi-Fi and experienced connectivity issues on my flight or if I have questions related to a paid Flight Pass, how do I get in contact with Customer Care?

We apologize for any inconvenience that came from Wi-Fi connectivity issues.

Connecting & Troubleshooting Expand All Collapse All How do I recover my SkyMiles account if I am locked out during my flight?

Unfortunately, if you are locked out of your SkyMiles account during flight, you will not be able to unlock the account or use free Wi-Fi. After your flight has landed, visit Need Help: SkyMiles to regain access to your account.

In the meantime, you can purchase a Wi-Fi Flight Pass to connect to the internet on your flight.

I have questions about my SkyMiles account and password, what should I do?

For SkyMiles help, please visit Need Help: SkyMiles. Unfortunately, the Wi-Fi Customer Care chat is unable to assist with SkyMiles-related questions.

To find your SkyMiles number: If you previously linked your trip to your SkyMiles account, your SkyMiles number will be displayed on your printed boarding pass. Your SkyMiles number can also be found on the Fly Delta app in the SkyMiles section under the Account tab. If you are still having trouble, visit Need Help: SkyMiles while on the ground to recover your log-in credentials.

If you are not yet a SkyMiles Member, create an account for free on board and start enjoying Delta Sync Wi-Fi across multiple devices on aircraft equipped with Delta Sync Wi-Fi.

If you are having trouble remembering your SkyMiles account information: Select “Having Trouble Logging In?” on the Delta Sync Wi-Fi log in screen. We will use the information you provide to confirm you are an existing SkyMiles Member and grant you access to Delta Sync Wi-Fi. Note, logging in without your SkyMiles number via this method will limit the exclusive content and offers available on your flight.

What do I do if I had an issue with partner content or offers on today’s flight? For issues with partner content and offers, please follow up directly with the partner. Partner customer care information can be found on the partner offer or content page. Can I use streaming video and audio services? Yes, on aircraft equipped with Delta Sync Wi-Fi. Our Delta Sync Wi-Fi and Delta Flight Passes support streaming of your favorite video and audio content. Voice and video calls are not permitted in flight. Can I use my corporate VPN when connected to Delta’s Wi-Fi? Yes. Delta’s onboard Wi-Fi supports all major VPN applications. Check with your company or VPN provider on how to support Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) without cellular service (i.e., in flight). Please note that once you are on VPN, you will no longer have access to log in to Delta Sync Wi-Fi. Please log in or purchase a pass before turning VPN on. Is Delta Wi-Fi safe? Protecting your information is important to us. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) rigorously tested and certified the Wi-Fi hardware and software on our planes. For your safety, remember to disable your device’s cellular network by placing your device into “Airplane Mode” when you're on board. Also, be cautious when accessing, sharing or sending private files on a public network and never open links or pages from unknown sources. Can I make calls during flight? No. Video calls and voice calls (including voice over Wi-Fi and voice over IP) are not allowed during flight. Can I still connect to my existing Wi-Fi Onboard subscription plan in flight?

Existing Wi-Fi subscriptions from Wi-Fi Onboard (formerly Gogo) continue to work on certain regional and widebody planes until these planes are equipped with fast, free Wi-Fi and a subscription is no longer required.

Customers on routes where Delta Sync Wi-Fi is available can log in using their SkyMiles credentials or enroll on board for a free SkyMiles account to access free Wi-Fi. A Wi-Fi Flight Pass is also available for purchase on board select international flights.
