One Piece; Wano Act 2 Finale (CONTAINS SPOILERS)

Introduction

Hello everybody! As promised, I am here to deliver a post for you, regarding the finale of Wano’s Act 2, which I looked forward to for quite a while lately. To be honest, I expected this act to last as long as the first act lasted. However, Oda had different plans and thus it lasted for more than 10 chapters than the previous one. Nonetheless, this didn’t really affect the story and how I perceived it.

Act 2 or 2 Acts?

I have already written an article about why I believed Act 2 of Wano was much better than the first one. In the post, I explained that Act 2 is used as a means of introducing the important characters for later on and I expected it to finish in Chapter 939 or so. One could say though, that this happened indeed and I will explain.

Act 2 – Part 1

Act 2 can be considered as two separate stories, though. In my eyes, I wasn’t wrong. If we split Act 2 into two separate parts, it indeed lasts until the point I predicted. Most of the important characters until Chapter 939 are introduced and they are built, causing hype to the crowd.

Act 2 – Part 2

From Chapter 940, though, there is a turn of events. The plot of Shimutsuki Yasuie’s execution begins, when nobody expected it, and thus the alliance starts fighting with a new cause. Even those who were not wiling to co-operate with Kin’emon’s group (Ashura Douji), decided to go with the plot and join forces with the Alliance. In those chapters, we see Luffy’s training so he can finally master his armament Haki. We also see Zoro’s storyline, during which he returns Shusui back to Wano, trading it for Oden’s sword, Enma. Kin’emon shows his strategic intellect, preparing the “Raid of Onigashima”, the plan to kill Kaido. We also see how all the characters who were introduced in the story thus far act. Kaido joined forces with Charlotte Linlin. Kidd and Killer have escaped from the prison, only to make their own way towards Kaido. Law is following the plan of an ambiguous character in the story, whom we know nothing about at all. And on top of that, we find out in the latest chapter that Orochi knows everything about the plan of the Alliance, yet he acts as if nothing is happening because he has a plan on his own.

The big revelation

The ending, though of Act 2 is not fantastic for everything I mentioned above. As Act 2 is meeting its end, the narrator reveals the biggest information out of all. As the 7 of the 9 Scabbards, along with Shinobu and their leader, Momonosuke, make their way to Onigashima first and there is one day left until it begins, the narrator reveals that “The War that will shake the fate of the world itself, is about to begin”. In other words, the final war, the war that Oda was talking about since the Marineford arc, is finally about to begin. And that is a big twist.

To be honest, I never expected these two things to be the same. I thought the last war would have to do with the Marines starting an attack, or right before Laugh Tale (Raftel). Yet, those behind the war are not the antagonists of the series, but the protagonists. The final war is not beginning by Kaido, who wanted to cause it. It begins with the Straw Hat Pirates, who allied with the Samurai. The protagonists are those who aim to destroy the balance of the world, on their way to become the crew that will conquer the Grand Line. For me, that is fantastic.

My hype for One Piece these 10 years I am into it is not meeting an end. But all those years, I learned how to control it slightly. Yet, I am looking forward to the next chapter as if I have no control over One Piece. And that is fantastic. Thank you, Oda. And thank you to all of you for reading my post. With that being said, see you next time!
