Formula:

TE = U + (mc2) / 2 + mgz Where, m = Mass of System z = Height Relative Reference Frame c = Velocity of System U = Internal Energy TE = Total Energy g = Gravity (9.8 m/s)

Example:

Calculate the total energy based on the internal energy of 50 J, mass of system of 20 kg, velocity of the system of 15 m and height relative reference frame of 30 m.

Solution:

TE = 50 + (20 x 152) / 2 + (20 x 9.8 x 30) = 8180 J.
