It is my husband’s middle name, and “”Can you bind the cluster of the Pleiades, Or loose the belt of Orion? Can you bring out Mazzaroth in its season? Or can you guide the Great Bear with its cubs? Do you know the ordinances of the heavens? Can you set their dominion over the earth?” ??Job? ?38?:?31?-?33? ?NKJV?? “He made the Bear, Orion, and the Pleiades, And the chambers of the south; He does great things past finding out, Yes, wonders without number.” ??Job? ?9?:?9?-?10? ?NKJV?? It is in the Bible!

We named our son Orion! We pronounce it oh-RYE-un. His nickname is Ryan. I know it’s a name on its own, but I don’t really mind. We’re using Ryan as the nickname for Orion, and many people love it. I’m really proud of my son’s name. He’s such a cute baby–he looks like he came from the stars! ??

Orion was my great grandfather’s name from Norway. (Pronounced OR-EE-EN) We love it for its strong meanings, “going forth as light”, “heaven’s light”, and “son of fire”.

We wanted him to have a special connection with the stars and out of doors. We wanted a unique name because ours are very common. It was hard to pick a middle name to go with it but we landed on Murphy.

My husband and I always looked for the Orion constellation from when we started dating. I knew someone with the name growing up and liked it. It’s similar enough to Ryan to be familiar, but not too familiar.
