Spring has sprung, and we’re planning lots of fun art projects for Baddour residents. Whether inspired by the blooms in our Garden Center or by the bright sunshine on walks outside, residents can use their inspiration to create bright and beautiful works of art.
When choosing a residence for adults with special needs, it’s important to consider a facility that offers plenty of activities that contribute to quality of life. Programs like the Creative Arts Center at Baddour offer the chance to have fun, get creative, and express ideas and emotions through art. From painting to pottery, we offer a variety of hands-on arts and crafts projects for residents.

Marbled Easter Eggs
These marbled-dyed Easter eggs are easy to create and beautiful to look at. You can use faux eggs or real hard-dyed eggs for this project. Use them in Easter eggs hunts or display in a centerpiece.
Supplies:
- Blue Nail Polish
- Faux Eggs / Room Temperature Hard-Boiled Eggs
- Disposable Plastic Container
- Rubber Gloves
- Stir Stick
- Drying Holder
- Room Temperature Water
Directions:
- Fill plastic container 3/4 full with room temperature water. (If the water is too cold the polish will sink.)
- Add a few drops of nail polish. (The more drops of polish you add, the darker and more vibrant the egg will be.)
- Lightly stir water with stick to create a marble effect.
- With rubber gloves on, dip the egg under the water and swirl. You can also use small tongs to handle the eggs.
- Dry the eggs.
Project Inspiration
Cute as a Button Trees
This fun project combines painting with hands-on creative fun. Baddour residents created these beautiful masterpieces with just five materials. You can color coordinate your paint and button colors or go bold and bright with your color palette! The options are endless.
Supplies:
- Canvas
- Acrylic Paint
- Paintbrushes
- Assorted Sizes of Buttons
- Shiny Sequins
- Craft Glue
Directions:
- Create your tree using paint and canvas.
- Apply colorful buttons and sequins throughout with craft glue.
- Display your beautiful creation!
For a seasonal twist this springtime, create flowers with buttons or use other materials to create blooming trees.
Take a walk outside for inspiration from the latest colors, blooms, and flowers all around you!
Tie Dye Butterflies
These beautiful butterflies can be created using coffee filters or tissue paper.
Supplies:
- Scissors
- White sheets of tissue paper (7”x 7” squares; 2 sheets for each butterfly)
- Tie dye kit
- Cup of water
- Craft glue
- Clothespin for each butterfly
- Wire cutters
- Pipe cleaners/chenille stems
- Craft google eyes
Directions:
- Begin by cutting 7”x 7” squares out of the white tissue paper.
- Fold each square accordion style and keep folded up.
- Using tie dye bottles, drip small drops of dye on each folded strip of tissue paper
- Allow tissue paper to dry for about 30 minutes to an hour.
- Once somewhat dry, carefully unfold each strip of tissue paper.
- Twist each piece of tissue paper and pinch in the center.
- Attach 2 pieces of tissue paper by twisting pipe cleaner around center.
- Trim pipe cleaner if desired, then twist pipe cleaner ends into a curl for antennae.
- Clamp tissue paper using clothespin.
- Attach craft google eyes to clothespin using craft glue.
Project Inspiration
Fun and Fabulous Floral Art
What embodies Spring more than pretty flowers? We loved creating these floral art masterpieces. For an added touch, faux floral stems, available at many craft stores, can be added to create a three-dimensional effect.
Supplies:
- Canvas
- Acrylic Paint
- Paintbrushes
- Faux Florals

Craft Glue Bird Houses
We love this craft because once you’ve finished painting your birdhouse, you can hang them outside and wait for beautiful birds to move in!
Supplies:
- Unfinished Wooden Birdhouses (Available at Hardware and Craft Stores)
- Liquid Watercolor Paint
- Paintbrushes
- Acrylic Sealer
Directions:
- Paint the unfinished birdhouse with watercolor paint.
- Let dry thoroughly.
- Add acrylic sealer or varnish.
- Hang birdhouse outside.
