The iconic hill that was home to children’s TV favourite Teletubbies has been turned into a pond ­because its owner was sick of tourists visiting, the Sunday People can reveal. Dipsy, Laa-laa, Tinky Winky and Po were filmed on the hill at a farm in Wimpstone, Warwickshire, between 1997 and 2001. At the time it was decorated with the magic windmill, windows and flowers young viewers loved.

When the Bafta-winning BBC show was axed, the television set was removed, leaving just a gentle grassy slope. But Teletubbies fans kept ­trespassing on the hill – until owner Rosemary Harding ­decided enough was enough. Rosemary, 63,who runs an aquatics shop at the site, said: “People were jumping fences and crossing cattle fields. We’re glad to see the back of it.”
