Meet “Very Peri,” Pantone’s Color of the Year for 2022.

The world-renowned authority on color describes Very Peri as a “a dynamic periwinkle blue hue with a vivifying violet red undertone that blends the faithfulness and constancy of blue with the energy and excitement of red.”

They also said the new color is “the happiest and warmest of all the blue hues" that "introduces an empowering mix of newness.”

The Pantone Color Institute selected Very Peri as countries across the globe continue to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We are living in transformative times. As we emerge from an intense period of isolation, our notions and standards are changing,” their description posted Thursday said.

“Displaying a carefree confidence and a daring curiosity that animates our creative spirit, inquisitive and intriguing PANTONE 17-3938 Very Peri helps us to embrace this altered landscape of possibilities, opening us up to a new vision as we re-write our lives,” it added.

Pantone’s 2021 Color of the Year was “Ultimate Gray” and “Illuminating,” a marriage of grey and yellow tones meant to “convey a message of strength and hopefulness that is both enduring and uplifting.” —Margaret Claire Layug/JCB, GMA News
