Walk the Bemidji Waterfront to Paul Bunyan and Babe
The Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox statues stand in Bemidji, Minnesota, celebrating the legendary lumberjack rooted in North Woods folklore and regional logging history. Installed in 1937, the figures sit along the lakefront and rank among the earliest roadside attraction statues in the country. You walk flat, paved paths near Lake Bemidji, snap photos, and explore nearby parks, downtown shops, and waterfront views. The location stays easy to reach and quick to enjoy. Many find the stop fun and lighthearted, appreciating the classic Americana feel, playful scale, and the chance to enjoy a relaxed lakefront break with a local icon.

September 05, 2013I think there are many of these floating around. It must have been some kind of tourist trend in the 50's or something. There is another one up in the northwest corner of California (near Jedediah Smith Redwood State Park if memory serves).

February 02, 2024This is a fun pitstop with a gift store and trees with platforms in them to hike around on straight out of an ewok village. https://www.youtube.com/@artsyfartsy7036/videos

March 01, 2020I'm sure there are many of these around the US but this is the Original. Go see and see all the amazing tress at trees of mystery. The tram is OK I don't think its worth the extra for the ride, the forest if far better on the ground where you can see candelabra trees family trees the GIANT Brotherhood tree. etc.... It's amazing! Oh and Babe the Bull is anatomically correct, some kids might ask questions.

5.0 July 08, 2018I loved this stop! It was super busy and very kitschy but entertaining. The gift shop was superb, the free museum was top notch and the kids got ice cream and a pick tire with Paul. There was ample parking for our big rig and tow car. We didn’t do the trees of mystery ride because it was expensive and we felt like we got enough close encounters with the giants on the scenic highway and through the avenue of the giants.

5.0 June 10, 2016Such a great stop! I remember going here when I was a kid. We didn't ride the tram this time but did check out the museum of Indian artifacts from around the United States.
