No-Fly Zones and Unmanned Aircraft Flying Area

Before flying a UA in Singapore, operators are advised to check OneMap, a one stop application that has been curated for UA users to identify areas where UA flying is recommended and where permits are required and contains useful geographical and regulatory requirements in certain areas for all UA operators.

Do read the following guide to know where UA operations are permitted:

No-Fly Zones

Toggle accordion

No-fly zone refers to areas where you are not allowed to operate your UA if you do not hold the requisite permit(s). General no-fly zones include:

  • Areas within 5km of aerodromes
  • Areas within danger areas
  • Protected areas under Air Navigation Act
  • Areas within prohibited areas
  • Areas within restricted areas

UA Operators should also take note of the following signages in areas at or around the areas that you are flying. National parks, nature reserves and private property may also contain local restrictions or specific conditions.

Some examples of these signages are: nfzs-signages

Temporary Restricted Areas

Toggle accordion

In the event of aerial displays or large-scale events such as National Day Parade, a Temporary Restricted Area (TRA) may be set up. TRA refers to a demarcated zone established by CAAS for a specific duration where conduct of all aerial activities including kite-flying, hoisting of captive balloons, and flying of UA such as drones are prohibited. Prior to flying, do visit OneMap to stay updated on the TRA.

Unmanned Aircraft Flying Areas (UAFAs) are community spaces for unmanned aircraft (UA) enthusiasts to gather and interact while facilitating and supporting safe and responsible recreational UA operations. No fees are required for entry or use of the UAFAs. Site-specific Operating Guidelines Current UA regulatory requirements and safety guidelines apply at the UAFAs. Signages displaying relevant information on the prevailing UA regulations and site-specific guidelines are prominently placed around each UAFA to raise awareness and educate enthusiasts on safe flying and good practices to observe in sharing the community space with other users such as joggers. As UAFAs are set up in public spaces, UA users are encouraged to be considerate and not cause disamenities towards the nearby residents or other park users.
