Ultrasound examination, or ultrasonography, offers a minimally invasive and effective diagnostic method for observing changes or abnormalities in your pet’s organs. It is useful for studying heart conditions and examining abdominal organs.

Pet ultrasounds can also confirm pregnancy and are safe for the litter, posing no risk. The procedure is quick, painless, and does not require anesthesia.

Dog and cat ultrasounds enable early detection of internal abnormalities, such as nodules, masses, cysts, and abscesses, which cannot be seen externally. Early diagnosis leads to more successful treatments and faster recovery times.

They can be used to diagnose:

Bladder and bladder stones
Enlarged lymph nodes
Fluid within the abdominal region
Abnormal blood vessels
Adrenal abnormalities
Uterine infections
Diagnosis of pregnancy
Heart diseases

For your pet’s ultrasound:

Fasting: No food overnight before the exam.
Shaving: The area may need to be shaved for clearer images, as ultrasound waves can’t pass through air.
Alternative: In some cases, like pregnancy checks, rubbing alcohol and ultrasound gel might be used instead of shaving.

Shaving is usually recommended for the best results.
