The Issue

It's probably safe to say that any seasoned fan would have heard of the Hot Topic chain of stores. Hot Topic is a US brand known worldwide in fandom circles for selling the best pop culture and band merch, but as of now, it can only be found in a select few countries. While there is of course the option of international shipping, many fans are still unable to get HT's goods for various reasons, some of them being: having no way to pay online, not having permission from parents/guardians to buy products online, etc.

As a fan of Panic! At The Disco and My Chemical Romance, I have found it nearly impossible to get merch for these bands, mainly because I am unable to purchase their merch online, and my family does not approve of their music and do not see a need to spend money on merch. And I know I am not the only one - many of my friends would jump at the chance to visit a Hot Topic if there was one here.

Whatever the band, series or artist, merchandise is a key part of every fan's fandom experience, and having a store catering specifically to fans like us here in Singapore would make it a lot easier for us to get our hands on it - not to mention one of the most famous merch shops in the world. We hope that Hot Topic will consider opening a store here in Singapore, and that it will benefit fans here of all fandoms.
