By referring your friends and getting them into the game (or back into it, if they haven't played in a while), you'll both receive some rewards after they complete some quests.

What Is The Pokemon Go Referral System?

The referral program has been implemented worldwide and is meant to help you get people into playing Pokemon Go. These can be completely new players or people who haven't played in 90 days or more.

How Do I Get A Friend Referral Code In Pokemon GO?

It's pretty easy to find a referral code if you're looking to join the game again. Niantic's intention is most likely that you'll invite your friends if you're an existing player, or that you'll use a friend's code if they play and you're starting new or returning to the game.

However, many people post their codes online. Reddit, Twitter, and Facebook are popular places to find and join a Pokemon Go community, with many of them operating at the local level in different towns, cities, and regions.

Always be careful when messaging strangers online or using their code.

Also, if you're the new/returning player, remember that your referrer will gain rewards when you complete quests. This won't affect you directly, but it's something to keep in mind.

How To Use The Referral System In Pokemon Go

The program itself is pretty simple. All you need to do to refer a friend is open up your friends list in the app, click "invite," and send your code to them.

If the person you've sent your code to is a returning player, they just need to input it in the friends list menu. New players can do it in one of two ways: input it on the friends menu like a returning player, or use it during the sign-up process.

If a new player doesn't input the code in the signup process, they'll only have a 72-hour window to input it on the friends menu before the chance expires.

Once someone inputs your code, you'll need to make sure you accept the automatic friend request that is sent to you. The two of you will need to remain friends until you've received all the rewards, or you will lose access to them.

Once you're friends, you'll see the list of rewards and quests on each other's page from your own game.

For a successful referral, the new (or returning) player will receive 100 Poke Balls, and the referrer will receive 50 Stardust.

How Do I Claim Milestone Rewards In Pokemon GO?

At first, finding your referral quests and rewards can be a bit confusing. Unlike almost every other type of quest in the game, these won't be found in the quests menu.

Instead, navigate to the friend page for your friend (whether you're the referrer or new/returning player). Scroll down and you'll see the quests there. You can claim the rewards for any completed quests here, too.

Pokemon Go Referral Quests And Milestone Rewards

Once the referral process is complete and the two of you are friends, the new or returning player will have access to a handful of quests that are designed to help reacquaint them with the mechanics and content in the game.

Only the new/returning player will need to complete the quests. The existing player/referrer does not need to do anything.

However, even though the referrer will not be able to complete the quests, they will still receive rewards.
