Pokémon GO: Wurmple Evolution Guide - Screen Rant

Wurmple is one of several Pokémon that can be evolved into more than one form in Pokémon GO. Unlike the Eevee evolutions, there's no nickname trick for evolving Wurmple. Unfortunately, that means there's no way to control which Pokémon players will get from evolving Wurmple, so it may take a few tries to obtain both Silcoon and Cascoon. Luckily, Wurmple has one of the lowest candy costs to evolve.

Wurmple is a common Bug-type Pokémon that originates from the Hoenn region. Wurmple can be evolved into Silcoon or Cascoon and they are both Bug-type Pokémon as well. Evolving Silcoon results in the Bug- and Flying-type, Beautifly, and Cascoon evolves into Dustox, a Bug- and Poison-type Pokémon. Wurmple and the other Pokémon in its two evolutionary lines can also be obtained in Shiny form in Pokémon GO. Like the regular form, evolving a Shiny Wurmple has a random result.

Although Wurmple evolves randomly, it will only cost 12 candies for the first evolution. Since it has the lowest candy cost, players should be able to easily evolve multiple Wurmple in a short amount of time. Wurmple appears fairly often in the wild, but, since it is a Bug-type Pokémon, it will appear more often in the rain. A Mossy Lure Module or Rainy Lure Module can also be used at a PokéStop to increase the chances of encountering Bug-type Pokémon.

How To Catch Wurmple & Earn Candies In Pokémon GO

When players encounter a Wurmple, they can use a Pinap or Silver Pinap Berry to earn additional candies when it's caught. Three candies are awarded for catching a Wurmple, six can be earned with a Pinap Berry, and players will receive seven for using a Silver Pinap Berry in Pokémon GO. These amounts can change if there's an active event with bonuses that affect candies. Additionally, one candy will be received for transferring any Pokémon in Wurmple's evolutionary lines.

Although evolving Wurmple only costs 12 candies, players will need another 50 to evolve Silcoon or Cascoon. To obtain both Beautifly and Dustox, a minimum of 124 candies are needed, and more will be required if Wurmple's random evolution results in the same Pokémon more than once. To earn candies quickly, players will need to continuously catch Wurmple, so an Incense can be used along with the Lure Modules and taking advantage of weather boosts.

Despite the randomness, it should be fairly easy for players to obtain Wurmple and all of its evolutions in Pokémon GO. Using items that attract Pokémon, especially Bug-type, and maximizing the amount of candy received for each Wurmple will help players obtain Beautifly and Dustox quickly. Wurmple is one of only a few Pokémon that has a random evolution result in Pokémon GO.
