'Pokemon Quest': How To Evolve Poliwag, Tentacool, Diglett, And More

Monday was Pokémon overload for fans of the monster catching franchise. The Pokémon Company announced multiple games for the Nintendo console, but one of them, Pokémon Quest, was made available right away. The game is nothing like othe games in the franchise and evolving some popular Pokémon is a little different.

Pokémon Quest is a bit more action-oriented game with players forming a team of three Pokémon that will roam around an area unleashing their attacks. Players have to cook certain items in the game in order to get additional Pokémon, which is much different than in previous games. Evolving is a little different in Pokémon Quest, but in a way, a bit of the game.

Evolving Normal Pokémon

Like in previous games, Pokémon evolve at a certain level and it’s the same level from other games. For example, Poliwag will evolve at level 25, Tentacool will evolve at level 30, and Diglett evolves at level 26. As long at the Pokémon can evolve by leveling up without any special circumstances then it will be the same level as previous games.

Trade and Stone Evolution Pokémon

Back in the early days of Pokémon, to inspire players to trade between each other, certain Pokémon could only evolve when traded. This includes Kadabra, Machoke, Graveler, and Haunter. Since there is no option to trade in Pokémon Quest, the game allows these Pokémon to evolve at level 36. The same for goes Pokémon that required an elemental stone such as Vulpix, Growlithe, and Staryu. As for everyone’s favorite Pokémon, Pikachu, it can evolve into Raichu at level 22.

Eevee Evolutions

Since Eevee is a special Pokémon that normally evolves into Vaporean, Jolteon, and Flareon with the respective elemental stones, it will evolve at level 36. What’s different in Pokémon Quest is that which evolution it takes will be random. On the game’s subreddit, players theorized that Eevee’s placement in the team will be a factor, but others confirmed that is not the case.

Pokémon Quest was a pleasant surprise for Nintendo Switch owners, but the real attraction is when a core Pokémon game that will come to the console in 2019.
