If you want to recruit some of the best party members in the game, you need to understand how the Pokemon Sword and Shield Fire Stone evolutions work. The Pokemon Sword and Shield Firestone is a coveted item that lets you evolve Pokemon like Growlithe, Vulpix, and Eevee.
So, if you’re looking to expand your Pokemon Sword and Shield Pokedex, dominate Grass-type Pokemon, or evolve some of your favorite pocket monsters, you’ll want to keep reading. We learn how to get the Pokemon Sword and Shield firestone, how evolutions work and what benefits you can get from it.
How to get Firestone in Pokemon Sword and Shield
To find the Firestone, head to the Lake of Rage in the Pokemon Sword and Shield Wilderness, where a circle of rocks is located opposite a small body of water next to the Watt Trader. You need a Rotom Bike from Route 9 (six gym badges) to get here. Once you do this, cross the water and collect the shiny item under each stone, this will give you eight possible evolutionary stones. These gems respawn intermittently, so come back later if you don’t get what you want.
There is also a specific location for the Firestone. If you go to the right of Motostoke in the Wild Area and cross the bridge, you can see a few pipes on your left next to the corner of a brick wall where a Pokeball is sitting. Grab it to grab an easy Fire Stone.
There’s also the Pickaxe Duo in the Bridge Field section of the Wild Area, who will do some archeology to collect evolutionary stones for players with enough Watts. Worth a try if you need another.
How to evolve Growlithe, Vulpix, and Eevee in Pokemon Sword and Shield?
Once you’ve found your Firestone, go to your bag, select the ‘Other Items’ tab and use the item to evolve it into your desired evolution by using any of the Pokemon seen below. If you give it to a Pokemon, they just keep it and the process won’t work.
There are three Pokemon you can evolve with Firestone. The first is Pokemon Shield-exclusive Growlithe, which will evolve into Arcanine and can only be found in the Dusty Bowl area of the Pokemon Sword and Shield Wild Area, while Vulpix will evolve into Ninetales and can be found in and on Route 3. Many parts of the Wild Area.
You can also transform the Eevee into a Flareon if you manage to catch one on Route 4. Of course, Eevee has lots of evolutions, so make sure that Flareon is definitely the one you want!
