Pokémon Sword & Shield: How To Find & Evolve Barboach Into ...

Read on to find out how to catch Barboach and evolve it into Whiscash in Pokémon Sword & Shield.

As with many Pokémon, Barboach takes inspiration from a real-life creature called the loach. It's a bottom-dwelling freshwater fish that likes to bury itself in the mud to protect itself from predators. It also has several "barbels" (tiny little tentacles) around its mouth to help sift through pebbles in search of food. Which is probably where the name Barboach came from.

Barboach isn’t the most exciting Pokémon to catch in Sword & Shield, but Whiscash can be a menace. Here’s where you can find ‘em.

Where To Find Barboach

You can catch Barboach while surfing or fishing in a number of different locations. Check Galar Mine No. 2, Motostoke, North Lake Miloch, Slumbering Weald, South Lake Miloch, and Stony Wilderness. Your best odds are surfing at North Lake Miloch during intense sun, rain, or a sandstorm, or at South Lake Miloch during a rain, thunderstorm, or sandstorm.

Whiscash only spawns in two locations, but it's fairly common in both. Surf or fish at Slumbering Weald or Lake Miloch and you're sure to find one.

You can also find Barboach or Whiscash in Max Raid Battles at Max Raid Battles: Bridge Field, Dusty Bowl, Rolling Fields, and West Lake Axewell.

How To Evolve Barboach Into Whiscrash

Just get Barboach to level 30 and it will evolve in Whiscash. Easy.

What Whiscrash Can Do In Battle

Whiscash is a bit of a tank. High HP and a Water/Ground typing give it a lot of defense without much offense. Play up that strength with Rest and Snore to keep dealing damage even while you recover health. Earthquake and Hydro Pump, and Waterfall are your best offensive moves, but you'll have to choose between the offensive power of Hydro Pump and the consistency of Waterfall.

If you don't want to use Rest and Snore, a few additional coverage moves like Zen Headbutt or Stone Edge will help Whiscash maintain an edge in battle.
