Pokémon Sword & Shield: How To Find & Evolve Shellder Into ...

Are you seeking out a unique Water/Ice-type Pokémon with high defense? Consider training up a Shellder into a Cloyster for your team in Pokémon Sword and Shield. As one of the Pokémon that made the cut in the Galar Pokédex, Cloyster definitely fits in with the regions unique looking inhabitants!

Location and Evolution Requirements

Shellder can be found in the water at West Lake Axewell specifically only when it's snowing. If you do not want to wait for this, the clam can be found exclusively through fishing in bodies of water in Giant's Seat. Fortunately, rather than requiring leveling to evolve, all you have to do is get your hands on a Water Stone to turn Shellder into Cloyster. They regularly respawn right by the big rocks at Lake of Outrage.

How To Use Cloyster

No need to wait to evolve it since Cloyster doesn't learn any strong moves past level one. All you have to do is bring it to the Move Reminder at any Pokémon Center, so don't waste your watts on Hydro Pump at the Trader. The ideal move-set for this Pokémon would be Iron Defense, Ice Beam, Hydro Pump and Blizzard. Ice Beam, with an attack power of level  90 is a solid classic choice to utilize the power of any ice-type. Iron Defense will truly make Cloyster a fortress since its base defense is 180, one of the highest of all Pokémon. Blizzard will create a storm that chips away at the opponent, but will not harm any ice-types.
