Pokémon TikTok Theory About Where Cubone Come From Is Mind ...

Another Pokémon theory about the origin of Cubone has arisen, with this theory potentially rivaling the Kangaskhan theory in plausibility. The Cubone/Kangaskhan Pokémon theory has been debated for many years, with fans trying to uncover where this ground Pokémon who wears its mother's head as a helmet might come from. But now a new theory suggests that Cubone is actually an evolved version of Charmander.
Cubone has always been a mysterious and dark Pokémon ever since the series debut. Its origin of it wearing its dead mother skull was and still is unlike any other Pokémon in the series. A longstanding Cubone theory is that it is a baby Kangaskhan that lost its mother. This is evidenced by their similarities in skin tone, as well as the two Pokémon being able to be encountered in an area in Pokémon Sun & Moon. While this theory was never truly confirmed it at least seemed within the realm of possibility, and it's still not killed off completely even with this new theory.

This theory comes from prof_frag on TikTok. He claims that a Cubone is what happens when a Charmander's parent dies. He states that when a Charmander is born, they require a Charizard to light their tail up on fire, but when a Charizard dies, their tail can't be lit. They'll cry next to the Charizard's corpse and eventually wear its skull, evolving into a Cubone in the same way that a Slowpoke can evolve into a Slowbro due to a Shelder biting its tail. Pikachu4president21 then followed up on this Tiktok with his own, uncovering the skull from a Cubone plush to reveal a remarkable resemblance to Charmander.
This theory isn't flawless though. Pokémon FireRed's Pokédex entry states that if a Charmander were to lose the flame on its tail, it would die. That would mean that if a Charizard were to die and not be able to light a Charmander's tail, the Charmander would also die and not be able to become a Cubone. Would only a select few Charmander be able to become Cubone in very specific circumstances? This also goes under the assumption that Charizard lights up the tail of Charmander at all, as opposed to Charmander producing the flame on its tail as an energy source.
Still, even with its flaws, this theory opens up a new possibility for what Cubone could be. The fact that a Cubone does look a lot like Charmander under the skull is compelling evidence, though its flaws still put the theory into question. While this will only continue the Cubone discourse rather than confirm anything concrete, speculation is what makes the world of Pokémon so compelling to discuss and think about.
