Comments Comment by ZeeAUS In BFA these will be the new pet currency replacing Shiny Pet Charm. Whilst Shiny Pet Charm is not going away, it will only be able to purchase items from pre-BFA like pets and toys - they will no longer be able to purchase the "good stuff" like Ultimate Battle-Training Stone, Marked Flawless Battle-Stone, Pet Treat etc - these will require the new currency Polished Pet Charm. Also Broken Pet Portal will be able to be purchased with the new currency Polished Pet Charm.New Vendor Pets introduced in BFA will require Polished Pet CharmPet powerups/consumables will require Polished Pet CharmOld Vendor pets introduced before BFA will still use Shiny Pet CharmYou get Polished Pet Charm by doing new BFA content - like Pet Battle World QuestsCurrent list of items that change from Shiny Pet Charm to Polished Pet CharmUltimate Battle-Training StoneMarked Flawless Battle-StoneMystery BagFlawless Battle-Training StoneBattle Pet BandageLesser Pet TreatPet TreatMagical Mini-TreatMagical Pet Biscuit"Dapper Gentleman" Costume"Dread Pirate" Costume"Little Princess" CostumeBig Pink Bow Comment by Damonra Where can these be redeemed? Comment by inomiss This changes will affect NPC Lio the Lioness in the garrison in WoD. She doesn't accept Shiny Pet Charm any more since patch 8.0.I have submit a screenshot to help. (hasn't accepted :( ) Comment by Cairngorm Is there any way to get these yet? I tried to star the Sun Darter Hatchling quest today but can't get a princess costume because they now cost Polished. Comment by Iownya Giada Goldleash standing next to Serr'ahs area at the Garrison still takes the "old shiny pet charms". She carries pets. Comment by zeldof Very frustrating. WTG Blizzard. You screwed up badly and many players (like myself) will no longer be dealing with pets. Comment by Noel1234 This is some of the dumbest B.S. from Blizz in 10+ years of playing. This might be the end of it for me. Old crap we can't use and new things we can't even collect yet! Wtaf... What about anyone not wanting or able to get the expansion right away? Way to go Blizz... FU Comment by rogomatic Please Blizz, don't make our hard earned Shiney Pet Charms useless. We work hard for them and we should not be penalised for spending them wisely. Why can't we still spend them at the "old" vendors and begin earning the new ones to spend at the new vendors? Surely there should be a way for us to make them count for something? As a casual player, I do not go PTR and I do not read endless forums to see what is coming in a new expansion. I simply look forward to it. I don't expect to feel so cheated, disappointed and frustrated. If you are not willing to let us spend the tokens at old vendors, I hope that you will provide a "currency exchange" option with one of the pet related NPC's when the expansion goes live. Even if I only get 1 new token for 5 or 10 or even 50 old ones, I won't feel so cheated. In future, if you would consider it, a major currency change like this would be nice to know by an in game email from you. You do plenty of those so I guess it isn't that difficult.Bottom line, it is a game so I guess I shouldn't be so frustrated but then in the same token, you shouldn't be so keen to obliterate old currencies. It is harsh.*sigh* Comment by salic Everything so far about this 8.0 patch just screams "until you're 120, your wow life is going to suck". The unavailable polished charms is just another example. Comment by crazypod So, I just upgraded to pre-expansion and upon logging and recieving my new pet, I immediately ran to turn in my shiny pet charms for a levelling stone. I learned that my pet charms are no longer valid. I been working hard on collecting those charms and saving them for a very long time. I was wanting to make sure all my pets were levelled before the expansion. To learn my charms are now worthless is beyond frustrating, and I feel so ripped off! Blizzard, please, fix this. I now have a new pet from expansion I cannot even level or enjoy. Seriously, what the hell. This takes all the excitement of getting the new pet away. Please at least convert our shiny charms to the new charms, without a rideculous price. Pllease fix this blizzard, as soon as possible. Thank you. Comment by stinkbag This is pretty shameful. It's even more shameful that absolutely nothing is going to be said, much less, done about it. This change should have happened at BFA launch, not the pre-expansion patch. absolutely nothing positive or progressive at all has been accomplished by this. I happened to miss their little "oh by the way" post and took several days off from the game. lucky me, now I have around 600 completely useless (to me. imo) charms. That would have been 13 pets I could have boosted to 25. I have a pretty huge battle pet collection, and right now I wish every one of them would take a dump on blizzard's yard. Especially the mechanicals. huge sigh. This is fixable. There is time. Alas, we all know how this ends. Comment by dexxter2010 I am very disappointed that my many hundreds of shiny pet charms are now effectively useless. I was so happy to finally get my Cross Gazer after endless hours farming stupid eyeballs. That happiness turned to frustration and anger when I raced to Dalaran and tried to buy a leveling stone only to find I had been screwed. STUPID STUPID STUPID Comment by 870111 I might have some insight as to why Blizzard made this decision, and it's probably because of players like me. I feel like I'm going to get downvoted for this but I need to get my opinion out there, since I believe it's a valid concern, and probably what Blizzard took into consideration when making this choice.I've been playing since the start of this expansion, so I've been slowly collecting up (shiny charms, not the new polished charms) until i have not needed them anymore. Since that point (of not needing charms) I've passively been ONLY doing the gold missions and pet missions from my class hall mission board every day, maybe sometimes twice a day. I have over 8000 shiny charms. If Blizzard kept the shiny charms as is instead of forcing a new conversion, the second prepatch hits, I could buy out Flawless Battle-Training Stone, Marked Flawless Battle-Stone, and Ultimate Battle-Training Stone, and I could effectively skip half of the content by immediately upgrading all new pets instead of leveling them, and that's before the expansion even releases. I could then use the remaining idk, 6000 or 7000 charms to sell the stones and control the market and #$%^ over the pet charm market if I wanted to.If I was smart, I should've bought out all three items and stockpiled them before the conversion but I wasn't.If they wanted to be slightly more fair, they could keep the 3 stones (Flawless Battle-Training Stone, Marked Flawless Battle-Stone, and Ultimate Battle-Training Stone) on the old shiny pet charm currency, and leave the polished pet charms to purely the new content in the new expansion (vendors that sell pets using new currency etc) but the above problem still poses a problem. Comment by Xixora Not happy about this! I ran out of bandages because it's pet battle week and can't buy more. Not well thought out, Blizz... >:( Comment by ThiefMaster What the actual ^&*! They didn't even mention this in the "things to do before they go away with 8.0" posts. Now I have ~1.5k useless pet charms I could have used to level a bunch of pets instead without spending hours on fights... Comment by Miatog In order to buy all of the toys and pets it will take 3975 charms. (As of 8/16/18)Toys: 750Pets: 3225Total: 3975Gonna take a while. Comment by miniwidge Everyone's complaining about the uselessness of the shiny charms. I won't go there. I *will*, however, go to the dark place that says "why are the two beasties that drop polished charms only on Alliance side AND why are there two Alliance-only quests?" At least that's how I read the page. I know that, as a Hordie, I did a quest out in Drustvar, saw the bunny and killed it, getting charms, but it's a bit out of the way.I know there's a pet vendor in Vol'dun, but are there any beasties that we can kill in Zandalar that give up these charms? Comment by 1106519 Now i have 2 600 useless shiny pet charms. i didnt play last 3 months, now with BFA i returned and realized, that i have 2 600 useless charms. Thank you blizzard, my motivation for the pet battles was reduced to 0 Comment by 148447 So I LITERALLY, as in TODAY finally found out that the old pet charms are worthless. If only there had been some easily accessible warning to let me know this was the case OH WAIT. Comment by shadowin So..... BFA is live and there's still no way to get Polished Pet Charms? What's the deal? Comment by Telkari Sooooooo...does anyone have any useful information on these like how we can start obtaining them now that BfA is launched instead of the endless !@#$%ing despite the fact that there were numerous posts saying "don't hoard these spend them now" everywhere? >.> Trying to come back after a long break, found a vendor with these as the currency, and I can't find anything on specifically HOW to start obtaining these!Seems like some crybabies don't like being called out on their crap...how dare I ask for actually USEFUL information. Comment by Lillyrose Merchants Chest in Drustvar…HORDE players be aware that to open the chest you need to kill the one raven flying around that has the keys in its talons, and if you are NOT at least lvl 118 you will probably die, as all the beasts in the Alliance area are lvl 120 unless your on a quest there to kill them. You can still go to Drustvar, but beasts will be max lvl for you.EDIT: If you are a JC or a Rogue you can pick the lock. Comment by Treekachu These can be awarded to your character randomly (typically 3 at a time, seldomly) after successfully defeating an opponent via the PvP pet battle system. Comment by Hhumas you need total 7250 to buy everything including all pets and stuff . excluding that bag/2 , lvl 25 upgrade . and 1 more . in legion it was 27xx something . Comment by CardinalFlyer I'm not as much upset by the currency change as I am about the difficulty of getting the polished pet charms. It seems the wqs that award them are now account-based. I do them on one alt and then they're gone for others. This is a huge change that really makes it a long process to accumulate charms. And, the wqs don't seem to award charms very often. Why, oh why must they award bandages! Comment by Melandroso You can also get some after a successful PvP Pet Battle. My lvl 20 druid just got two of them from winning a 3 x lvl 25 pet battle. Comment by Fearmemortal Really? Why have these replaced the Shiny Pet Charms in lower level zones? This is rediculous. I willl not be forced into purchasing a new xpac just to get these. I have been playing and enjoying WOW for 10 years and have had few complaints overall. But get real. Comment by slowlevel Dear Blizzard,Please let us purchase Pet Treats and Happy Pet Snack with the old charms. I want my pets to be happy. Don't you want my pets to be happy? Comment by Steiner14512 You need 5100 charms to purchase all 31 pets as of Nov. 2018 (Patch 8.0.1).If you only play one faction, it will cost 4175 charms for 24 pets available to Horde or 3875 charms for 25 pets available to Alliance. Many of these pets, or even pet vendors, have to be unlocked by quests, reputation or achievements. All pets can be bought on the auction house. Note: The only true "Horde/Alliance only" pets that can only be used by one faction are Lil' War Machine and Lil' Siege Tower, in all other cases it just means that the pet can only be aquired by a specific faction. You can still buy it on a toon or at the auction house and use it on any char. Comment by Vifor You don't need to carry Polished Pet Charm in your inventory, you can leave them in your bank (or warband bank).Vendors have the "magic" ability to take them directly from your bank (or warband bank). LE: Imho (nowadays) best place for those Polished Pet Charm would be the warband bank as they would be accessible to all of your characters. Comment by Hearte As of patch 8.1, you can now purchase Interdimensional Pet Portal for 1000 Polished Pet Charms.Horde: sold by Happy Holaua, located at 55.93, 32.36, in Dazar'alor.Alliance: sold by Madeline Netley, located at 31.6, 67.2, in Stormsong Valley. Comment by Zugetz Ok, so which BfA pets are worth spending my polished pet charms to buy? Comment by neverminding So I pretty much do every single WQ that rewards Polished Pet Charms along with the very few missions that pop up. And I still need 4,250 to get all the pets. It's a little bit ridiculous. Comment by vorka Alts! It should not be this way, but alts are actually a good option to farm the charms faster. The charms are account bound - so you can do the same world quest with several alts (requires level 120 unfortunately) and then mail them to your main. Comment by Wikipedia33 I know that for a while it was possible to get limitless Pet Charms per day, if you had enough Garrisons. Some people racked up 20k or more. If this is what Blizzard is trying to fix, then how about making a one time exchange of ALL Shiny Pet Charms on your account, at a 1 for 1 trade for a Polished Pet Charms, but cap the number received at 2000. Or how about just automatically do that for everyone and send us in-game mail explaining the currency change. Comment by Underpandies Are the World Quest Pet Battles still available? (btw you'll get scratched by the cat :-P)If I find more quests rewarding these charms, I will update this post. Comment by xylotism If you have a stockpile of these, don't save them. Spend them. Blizzard is just as likely to make these worthless as they did with Shiny Pet Charms as soon as the next expansion hits. Stock up on the training stones and other consumables now, you should be able to come back and buy the pets and toys later. Comment by VijoPlaysOnYT If you plan on getting every item obtainable with these Pet Charms as of BfA, you will need 5825 Polished Pet Charms. This number gets lower if you only want the Horde/Alliance versions, but this number assumes you have everything previously available already unlocked (i.e. the different buffs to how many pets you can carry and such, which are from achievements or previous Pet Charms). Comment by Trabuco You will need 600 more of these bad boys for the 2 new reputation pets in 8.3.Let the farming begin Comment by Arexx WHERE TO SPEND THESE THINGS IN BFAIf you're like me, and just wanted to know where to spend these things in BFA to buy things to upgrade your current pet or whatever (information annoyingly hard to find). You can visit Dana Pull, inside a home at 50.87, 46.04 in Boralus for Alliance. Comment by BeerWolf Finally got all the Pets, and Toys, off these Polished Pet Charms... quite the grind on just the one character, initially, till I had an Alt.Much quick if you have alts, ofc. Comment by Shadowloot Any sign that these get devalued for 9.0? Comment by JeackTL This will continue to be the pet currency in Shadowlands (at least initially). Currently you need ~3,000 charms to buy all items at Shadowlands launch - presumably there will be more stuff in later patches. Comment by Litecide Can someone tell me where the heck we can find these things now? They really need to make at least one daily to bring in a steady stream like at least 15-20 a day Comment by Goodpizza I've been doing a bunch of the mission table quests for these in shadowlands and it seems that I'm not getting most of the charms i'm supposed to get from the missions. Comment by longslowgoodbye Deadly Dapperling Just dropped 45 pet charms! Comment by Zyzzax I got some by killing the rare mushroom guy in maldraxxus aswell. Comment by speedlmt40 It looks like 52 pets available for purchase costing 10,650 Polished Pet Charm (9.0.2) Comment by roweboy Anyone else wish Blizzard would make these account-wide currency? That would make collecting/spending them so much easier. Having to find out you need them on one toon, log out, send them to the other toon and then log back in is a pain. Please, please, please, Blizz, make them account-wide currency! Thanks! Comment by Allecia13 I have been away from WoW for a couple of expansions. I am back in the game for about 2 weeks now. I've seen a couple of vendors where I could purchase some pets with pet charms. Pet charms, yay! I have HUNDREDS of pet charms from when I SUPER enjoyed doing pet battles before I left the game. Turns out, those HUNDREDS (seriously, I think I have almost a thousand?) of charms are now useless? I was STUNNED to find out that that I couldn't buy *anything* anymore. :/ Is there no trade-in at all? Even a 5-1 ratio or something? Gah! Coming back to the game after a gigantic break is rough. Whew. But dang, I have SO MANY of these charms (that take up inventory space, I might add!) and to find they are 100% useless? I mean, I get it, I've been away from the game for awhile and I understand that a LOT of currency changes over time (I played the game consistently for many years before my break), but good lord, why did that one have to change. Ugh. I feel for folks who struggled with the currency changes in the past! :) (Although I never did give anyone a hard time back then. So at least I'm not a hypocrite! lol) Comment by SherriLynne Honestly, from what I see these are basically worthless. I got 20 in Stormsong Valley with useless except for space in the bank. And I have many lvl 25 battle pets with these not helpful at all Comment by Majduska I just got 57x Polished Pet Charms from Smorgas the Feaster Comment by Eillesthis If you have more gold than charms, start with the Imaginary Gun, the Tiny Mechanical Mouse, and the Void Tendril Pet Leash, since those cannot be found at the Auction House.Edit: And now that the two kinds of pet charms have been combined, the Magic Pet Mirror, Narcissa's Mirror, and Nightwatch Swooper which is *not* cageable. Comment by Draygona Why can't these just be added into the currency tab and made account wide like Trader's Tender. Comment by tooltip In patch 10.2.5 all vendors, world quests, and quest rewards that still used Shiny Pet Charm will be switching to this currency instead. Additionally, Polished Pet Charm will now stack to 5000 (up from 1000). Comment by Masterik So whats the best way to farm these in 10.2.5? Comment by Cuphat Scrunner (Maldraxxus rare) just dropped 50 of these for me. I've never seen that before and Scrunner doesn't appear listed as a drop source of these.e: I just got 45 more from Smorgas the Feaster. Both were killed with the Unity construct following me. Comment by m4DD0gg Any one know if these are going to continue in TWW or is it going to be replaced? Comment by Deadarth Another good way to farm pet charms if you have a few alts that played Shadowlands, you can park them at the mission table there and just visiting the mission table once a day can get you 20+ charms and some anima. Each of my alt is earning 800-1200 anime per week and roughly 100 charms per week. It only takes 45 seconds per toon every day. I'm up to 20k charms before TWW. Hope this helps anyone. Comment by zapzorz Anybody know if there's anything new to buy with them? All the vendors seem to ask for resonance crystals or Kej currency, might just grab level up stones if there is nothing new :/ Comment by domie1595 New npc with new pets for pet charmsErani Comment by GreyPanda I noticed that I can buy stuff from vendors, even if all my Polished Pet Charms are in my Warbank!Seems a bit odd, cause I cannot actually see how many I have without accessing the bank at the same time. Because they are not a currency but kind of seem to act like an account wide currency now. Maybe there's an addon for this...? Comment by madness42 I was looking for an easy way to get enough Polished Pet Charms for the Guide "Three Easy Secret Battle Pets for Felcycle Mount Secret - Minor Secret Spoilers".
