Portable Air Conditioner - Storage Tank Drain Connection
Maybe your like
Portable Air Conditioner - Storage Tank Drain Connection As a Portable Air Conditioner runs, it draws moisture from the air. This moisture condenses into water that is collected in the storage tank. Inside the appliance there is a slinger ring that picks up the water and flings it on the hot condenser coils so the water can evaporate. Typically you will not need to empty the storage tank, except if there is excessive water. This may occur when you use the Dehumidify Mode or when you first connect the Air Conditioner.
Draining the Storage Tank on a Portable Air Conditioner
If there is excessive water being collected by the Portable Air Conditioner, you can drain the appliance in one of two methods.- Manually drain the storage tank. Please see our Portable Air Conditioner - Cleaning & Maintenance article for more information.
- Connect a garden hose to one of the drain ports on the back.
Models With Two Drain Plugs
- The upper drain plug is provided to allow automatic draining when the appliance is set for Dehumidify Mode or Dry Mode in high humidity areas.
- The lower drain plug is typically used for Cooling or Heating Mode, or for draining the tank for storage.
Connecting to a Garden Hose
- You can leave the hoses connected for continuous draining into a floor drain.
- Since the appliance drains by gravity, the hose needs to be laying flat on the ground and should be cut to the shortest length possible.
- Make sure you have a good connection where the garden hose attaches and that there is a rubber washer properly installed in the end of the garden hose. A poor seal could cause leaking or prevent the Portable Air Conditioner from draining properly.
- If the hose is pushed into a drain, make sure it is not pushed in too far. If the hose is touching water, it will not drain. Pull out the hose until the hose outlet is above the water.
- Avoid using an old or damaged garden hose.
