- CrossFit Open Workouts 2022. How many workouts are there?
- Deadlift Exercise. What is deadlifting good for and how to do it?
The power clean is a weightlifting move that we all recognise from the Olympic Games, and it can offer a whole host of benefits if performed properly.
This explosive move helps to strengthen your entire body, helps to build functional muscle and is fantastic for torching calories as it targets several muscle groups at once.
What specific muscles are targeted during a power clean?
Many muscles in your posterior chain will be worked when initially lifting into the catch position, such as your glutes, back, hamstrings. Strengthening these muscles will vastly improve posture.
Anterior muscle groups, including the abs, quads and deltoids will be engaged when catching the weight at the top of the move.
Other benefits of a power clean
The short, explosive nature of this move will help massively to improve your anaerobic fitness. The power clean works in the same was as HIIT (High intensity interval training) in that it trains your body to deal with anaerobic stress through high-intensity movements.
Working so many large muscle groups during an explosive movement like this means using up a great deal of energy. This move will supercharge your metabolism, creating a long-lasting fat afterburn after your workout is completed.
