30 Years' Experience

With over 30 years' experience in the metal refinishing industry, we have thousands of satisfied customers and are the go-to bluer for some of the world's largest manufacturers. We are large enough to be able to handle your business & small enough to want to!

Why Bluing?

Hot bluing will restore your gun to its original finish or, if you wish, to a matte or high polish finish. If correctly maintained, your gun need never be reblued again!

Rust – enemy #1 of your firearm. A speck of moisture or even a fingerprint can lead to rust, which weakens metals on a cellular level and can cause severe pitting very quickly, often in a matter of days. If rust attacks your gun, what can you do?

Bluing is an electrochemical conversion, where the surface of the steel is converted to a form of controlled rust called Magnetite (Fe3O4).

While there are a few different types of bluing, one of the most durable forms is hot salt bluing. The first step is to remove the old finish and rust, so the gun is blasted with a fine glass bead, which ensures not a speck of rust is left to undo the change. The firearm is then polished to the finish of your choice. Lastly, it is soaked in an alkali salt solution at a temperature of nearly 300°F.

By creating a watertight seal around the steel on your firearm, it will be able to withstand the elements for years to come. With proper care and maintenance, it can be passed down for generations. When it comes to maintaining your firearms or restoring damaged ones, bluing is always your best option. You'll find some great examples of the extent to which we can restore your gun in our Gallery as well as a current price list on our Pricing Page.

Note to Disaster Victims:

As always, our hearts and prayers go out to all of those affected by hurricanes, tornados, wild fires and so on. No one should have to go through the losses that inevitably come with natural disasters. We always offer an additional 10% to victims of natural disasters. You have enough to worry about. We are also able to provide quotes for refinishing to your insurance company.

Just make a note referencing the specific occurance on your packing slip. We'll try to undo whatever Mother Nature has done to damage your firearms.
