Production Facilities

SHIRAKAWA PRODUCTION FACILITY, JAPAN

The Japanese province of Fukushima is home to the biggest tyre factory in the Sumitomo Group, at Shirakawa, where our 1632 employees deliver a monthly production output of 10,350 tons of car, truck and bus tyres. Production operations at Shirakawa were launched in 1974.

IZUMIOTSU PRODUCTION FACILITY, JAPAN

Our production facility in the province of Osaka has been manufacturing tyres since 1944. It is thus the oldest production plant in Japan, employing 372 staff. After numerous modernisations, the plant now has a monthly production total of 750 tons of tyres, including products for agricultural vehicles and motorcycles.

MIYAZAKI PRODUCTION FACILITY, JAPAN

With a monthly production output of 9350 tons of car, truck and bus tyres, the plant at Miyakonoio is Sumitomo’s second largest production facility in Japan. Its workforce of almost 1400 staff carry on a tradition of production that began over 40 years ago.

PRODUCTION FACILITIES, INTERNATIONAL

The global success of Sumitomo Rubber Industries has given rise to a host of new production facilities. In recent years alone, new locations have been founded in China (opened 2012, 934 employees), South Africa (2013, 1003), Brazil (2013, 1269), the USA (2015, 1300) and Turkey (2015, 1430). They are concrete proof that today, Sumitomo is at home all over the world.
