PRP stands for Platelet Rich Plasma. P-shot (Priapus shot) involves taking PRP from your own blood and injecting it into the erectile tissue of your penis. This promotes repair of damaged tissues and helps in growing new tissues and in treating erectile dysfunction. PRP has up to 8 times more number of platelets compared to those present in normal blood.

The name Priapus shot is taken from Greek god of sexual health and was first used by Dr. Charles Runels (of Kardashian vampire facial fame) and it gained popularity from there. If you want to know about the P-shot for erectile dysfunction and you want to know about it and how it helps in treating erectile dysfunction, read on!

What problems can P-shot treat?

Usually, PRP (Plasma Replacement Therapy) is used to repair damaged muscles and tissues and also in growing new tissues.  P-shot has been used to treat the following health problems:

  1. Erectile Dysfunction (ED)
  2. Lichen Sclerosus
  3. Peyronie’s disease
  4. Penile Enhancement
  5. Sexual function, improving performance and orgasm.

How does P-shot work?

P-shot improves blood flow to the penis and also repairs the damaged erectile tissue (corpus spongiosum and corpora cavernosa) and helps in growth of new erectile tissues. P-shot also repairs the nerves and creates new neural pathways in the penis.  Both of these fixes help in enhancing the erection and performance capabilities of a man’s penis.

However, few researches conducted on P-shot are not in total agreement that it can treat male sexual dysfunction. A couple of other studies say that the benefits are limited and the evidence is limited that PRP can help in treating erectile dysfunction.

(Corpus spongiosum – is the tissue surrounding the urethra extending from shaft till the glans of the penis.

Corpora Cavernosa – the large part of the erectile tissue filled with blood vessels present in the penis shaft. Both corpus spongiosum and corpora cavernosa are the tissues that get filled with blood during penile erection.)

Where to get P-shot in Chennai?

P-shot is offered by very few clinics in Chennai and “Metromale Clinic & Fertility Center” is one among them. Metromale Clinic & Fertility Center hosts highly experienced sexologists in the city who have been treating male sexual health issues since 28 years.

Is the cost of P-shot covered by insurance?

P-shot when given to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) is usually covered by any health insurance provider. However, it is important for you to check with your provider or our insurance team before going for the shot.
