Psychonauts 2: How Many Levels & How Long It Takes To Beat

Psychonauts 2 is Double Fine's long-awaited platformer sequel to the original Psychonauts and features new areas, puzzles, challenges, and levels for players to explore, all of which take a decent chunk of time to beat. Linear-styled puzzles known as 'brains' make up the game's levels, but players can also explore real-world locations at their own pace. In addition, the game is filled with hidden secrets and collectibles, increasing the game's overall replayability.

In Psychonauts 2, players will control protagonist Raz as he continues his journey to becoming a fully-fledged Psychonaut. The previous game's ending saw his family become more accepting of this journey, encouraging Raz to follow his dream. The Psychonauts 2 world follows the lore of the original game, and its story is a direct continuation of that narrative.

The level structure of Psychonauts 2 is unique compared to other platformers. Levels are divided into 13 'brains' that have a linear structure. Players will progress through platformer puzzles to accomplish various objectives and progress through the main story. Psychonauts 2 also features five additional areas that exist in the 'real world.' These are open-world hub areas that players can explore at a carefree pace. These areas will feature optional side quests with additional collectibles, offering more puzzles and gameplay.

Psychonauts 2's total completion time is dependent on the playstyle of the player in question. HowLongToBeat has compiled various playstyle completion times using statistics from users' playthroughs. On average, Psychonauts 2's main story takes 12 hours to beat. This time assumes that players are not making a continuous effort to gather collectibles or complete side quests. The main story with extra content (like side quests) takes approximately 18 hours to complete. A completionist playthrough of Psychonauts 2, which includes experiencing and collecting everything the game has to offer, increases the playtime to an average of 24 hours.
