What Are Pumpkins and What Do They Do in Minecraft
Pumpkins can be used for a variety of things in-game. They can be easily broken using an axe, but you can still break them with literally anything. If shears are used on a pumpkin, it becomes a Carved Pumpkin and can be worn as a helmet. Wearing a carved pumpkin on your head allows you to look directly at Endermen without them attacking you.
Where to Find Pumpkins
Pumpkins can be found in nearly all biomes. They only need a small patch of grass to spawn on and are known to be found in the snow. Below you'll find a list of biomes pumpkins are also known to spawn in if you're playing on Bedrock.
- Taiga
- Snowy Taiga
Pumpkins also are known to spawn in a few Generated Structures. Below you'll find a list of where you can find them.
- Woodland Mansion (In the Stem Farm Room)
- Pillager Outpost (In the Woolen Tents)
Players also have a 14.4% chance of finding 1-3 pumpkins in a supply chest on a Shipwreck.
How to Farm Pumpkins
To farm pumpkins, you'll need Pumpkin Seeds first. These can be obtained by breaking the stems that pumpkins grow off of.
Now that you have the pumpkin seed use a hoe on any grass block touching the water and plant the seed. But make sure there's at least one open space next to the seed so it can grow.
After it is planted, wait for it to grow fully, or use some bone meal to speed up the process. And once it's fully grown, you can harvest it, and you'll have a pumpkin.
What Can I Craft With Pumpkins
Pumpkins can be used to craft five different items in-game. Below you'll see what you can craft using Pumpkins alongside a picture of the recipe and a list of the items required.
Snow Golems
To make a Snow Golem, you'll need to stack two snow blocks on top of each other, then a pumpkin on top. After that, it'll spawn.
Iron Golems
To make an Iron Golem, you'll need four Iron blocks and shape them like a lowercase t, then a pumpkin on top. After you do that, an Iron Golem will spawn.
