• Description: The Minor Circuit Champion. He eats in the morning. He eats in the afternoon. He eats in the evening, and at night, he sleeps.

Attacks

• • Jab: Hippo's main attack. He brings his fist to his face and strikes your head. You can block or dodge this attack.
  • Overhead Smash: Hippo rumbles and lifts his fist in the air then punches. You can dodge or counter this attack. (His stun when countered before he punches is longer then waiting for him to punch and then punching him)
  • Hippo Crush: Hippo's special attack. At around half HP after stumbling from your attack, he'll beat his chest and attack you with his two fists. You have to duck in order to dodge his attack. (That or lose HALF of your health!)
  • Pant Drop: He sometimes drops his pants.

Notes and Strategy

This is the title bout of the minor leagues. He's a very unorthodox fighter which makes him a lot harder then the rest of the minor league. For one thing, he has an excellent guard for the battle, so punching is usually useless. The only way to stun him is when he has his mouth open (which he always does after a punch) and punching him in the head to start combo stun. (Unless you punch him whens rumbling before his smash attack but yeah you can't stun him otherwise.) Just keep in mind that even though you him in the head to start stun he normally has his guard there and punching him again there has him block and end it. He also has a lot and I mean a lot of health so he's going to take a long time to beat. however with a Knockout Count of just 1, knocking Hippo down in any way is enough to KO him and take his Minor Circuit belt.

Star opportunities

• If he ever uncovers his navel to pull up his trunks, throw a hook at it.
• Evade his Guard Breaker, then send a punch to the side of the navel currently exposed.
• Block his jab and then punch at his belly
• Counter his Hippo Crush with a punch to the face. (But why do that when a punch to the belly can ohko?)

Knockdown opportunities

• If you counter the Hippo Crush with a punch to the gut instead of the face, Hippo's crown will fall off and he'll reel against the ropes. Repeat the feat for a One-Hit KO.
• Directly counter the Hippo Crush with a well-timed Star Punch for a One-Hit KO.

Challenges

• Defeat King Hippo...without getting tired.

Practice makes perfect for this challenge. You simply have to defeat King Hippo without once running out of Hearts, which will only occur if you get hit or blocked too often. Practice consistent connecting and dodging to avoid getting tired.

• KO a crownless King Hippo

See "Knockdown Opportunities" to learn how to knock that crown off his head and then finish him off.

• Defeat King Hippo without using Jabs.

This challenge means you can't counter in your usual way. Use the techniques shown in Star opportunities to get stars and star punch him until he's at half health. Then counter his Crush twice to win!

Attacks

• Jab: He brings his fist to his face and strikes your head.
• Delayed Jab: He starts bringing his fist to his face but waits for bit then does so and then punches you.
• Smash: Hippo rumbles and lifts his fist in the air then punches.
• Hippo Crush and Slam: Hippo's special attack. At around half HP after stumbling from your attack, he'll beat his chest and attack you with his two fist first doing his Crush and then very quickly slamming his two fist on your head. (Each hit does 50% so getting hit by both the crush and slam is a KO!)

Notes and Strategy

So uh to put it simply this fight is hard. Very hard! So lets get into why. First he has a manhole cover that covers his belly that needs to be knocked off or you can't punch his belly at all. He also doesn't always open his mouth and only opens it before he punches meaning you can't stun him and trying to punch him will just get you punched. To knock off the manhole cover you need to know his pattern. He first does a smash attack and countering it lets you punch off one layer of the tape keeping it on there. He then does a jab counter by punching him in one of his eyes then punch the other and finally punch the second layer off. After that he then does the Hippo Crush and Slam. Duck and then dodge and when he burps after he does the move punch him in his head and knock off the final layer of tape causing the cover to fall. Now finally the real fight begins! As stated before he doesn't always have his mouth open so listen for a roar and punch him in the head when he does. However if he doesn't have his mouth open you can counter for stars (At least for his Delayed Jab and Smash). Also as always he has a lot of health and does his Hippo Crush and Slam when he hits half health so get ready to dodge and punch him when he burps!

Sidenotes

• You can now punch him in the head when he's stunned and have it not end.
• If you mess up on countering his moves when he has the cover on he'll do some jabs before you having another chance to knock off a layer of tape
• you can still punch him before he does his smash to stun him

Star Opportunities

• When he does a delayed jab when silent when he readies his fist to punch punch him in the belly in the side he readied his hand with.
• When does a smash when silent before he punches punch him in the belly in the side he readied his hand with.
• Counter his Hippo Crush and Slam.

Knockdown and Knockout Opportunities

• After he does his crush and slam when he burps land a Star punch for a One Hit KO!

Challenges

• Knock King Hippo's manhole cover off in under 30 seconds!
  • To do this one be fast about knocking the cover off. I don't have any tips for this one sorry.
• Win the light and never get knocked down
  • Be good at dodge his attacks and don't punch randomly and this one should be easy!
• Land a Three Star punch when King Hippo's pants are down...
  • Just get stars and then stun him to knock his pant off and star punch!
