I’ve been trying to delete custom ringtones off my iPhone XS running on iOS 12 without any luck. They are in mp3 format. Using my Mac (High Sierra 10.13.6) I went into my Music folder and found iTunes>Tones sub folder but it didn’t contain any files. I connected the iPhone to my Mac, opened iTunes and saw that there was a Tones folder on the left hand side. I clicked on it and there was nothing. Right clicked it, nothing at all.

No need for pc or iTunes, you can delete custom ringtones right on your iPhone using GarageBand.
- launch GarageBand on your iPhone
- long-tap on some song you created, it doesn’t matter which one
- some options will appear, select “Share” and then select “Ringtone”
- on the export screen, press on “My Ringtones”
- your custom ringtones will appear
-press on “Edit” and delete the one you don’t want
-press cancel to go back to the main GarageBand screen
That’s it.

- Lost all Ringtones I had to do a factory reset to my iPhone 12. I lost all of my ringtones. Apparently I cannot find a way to put them back. It is really getting annoying. There 69 .m4r files on a Windows 11 laptop, also a micro SD card and also on Google Drive. There appears to be no way to put them back on my iPhone as ringtones. Every place I looked said to use GarageBand or iTunes. iTunes no longer exists and in GarageBand it will not let me load an .m4r file. Does anyone know how to do this or do I have to work with the annoying iPhone sounds? I also have them available on an old Android phone I have and have versions of them as MP3 and M4A. 493 3
- Can't see tones in iTunes Bought a new MBP. Sync with my iPhone XS Max. Had to replayed all my mp3s one by one in order for them to be in my iphone. The mp3s in my iPhones all had to be removed when synced with the new MacBook. Also the custom ring tones in my iPhone can be seen in the iTunes. That results in me not being able to remove them from the iPhone. Any way to overcome this? 409 3
- Restoring custom Ringtones after "upgrading" to Catalina I have several .m4r ringtones that I've used for years. When I "upgraded" to the newest iOS and OS X (Catalina), they've disappeared off my phone. Since I don't have iTunes anymore, I don't know how to add them back to my phone. Every tutorial I can find always uses iTunes (or synching with Finder but that doesn't seem to work either). Does anyone know how I can add these back to my phone? Some of them are clips from conversations I've recorded with friends and are irreplaceable. I don't want to lose them. 968 3

See Create and manage ringtones in iTunes. There is a section of removing tones. iOS only uses files in .m4r format for ringtones. You may have originally used mp3 sources to create suitable files that were then transferred to your device.

Good idea, but I only see the tones made with GarageBand for iOS there, not the other custom tones I've made and added to my device.
