Quetz food consumption!!

Any word yet as to when they are going to fix the food consumption rate on the Quetz? They are damn near unusable now.

It won't be changed. The quetzals are designed to consume food while they consume stamina, at a rate of 2 food per 1 stamina. This is intended, and by design and the devs are forcing it on us and we can't change it. Even if we have our own private server, there's no way to revert, modify or change this.

 

Quetzals in general are completely unusable now. They'll die just from flying across the island even if they're never attacked by anything.

That's bull crap. they wont last through the night now, Iv'e already lost 2. they have to fix this. Thanks for the info though.

This was an unnecessary change on top of the other Quetz nerfs, which at least made sense. Making players farm 100 meat prior to flying their Quetz does absolutely nothing except introduce more grinding.

Our main base is on the eastern shore.. flying from eastern shore to the volcano, sitting there while we load it up with metal then flying it back home, consumes an entire 2 troughs worth of food with both stuffed completely full before we leave home. Or about 4600 meat.

 

This.. is stupid ridiculous. We farmed meat with carnivores for nearly 2 hours just to do one metal run now.

So, is the current rate of food Consumption for the quetzal the norm now? I did a flyby around the map and my quetz was starving by the time I needed stamina. I got lucky and was able to get some food to her before she lost too much health but now I just keep all the quetzals parked since they're eating like gigas now.

Same, I have completely stopped using mine too and my metal building and defences have grinded to a near halt as a result

Dam that's bad @kithylin. Was that for one quetz? Or did u have a couple going?

To farm meat b4 use of a quetz doesn't make sense. Wat was the purpose of this change?

Soooo, stone is the new meta now I guess.

 

 

I live on the most Southern shore on one of the Island.

Almost no metal nodes there, and in 90% of the cases there are foundations there.

So I need my quetz 100% to fly to one of the mountains.

The nodes in the south are very pathetic to say the least.

And the volcano path to the top, is blocked by a few bases (PVE) and the entry is blocked by parked paracers.

All the mountains have massive garages on the pathways to the top.

 

Devs: if you meganerf the quetz as a hauler, think ahead and add resource nodes in other regions too so we have multiple reasonable choices to travel to and farm.

I for one like to live on the beach and above water, I have absolutely no need to settle around a mountain base.

Our highest level quetz can no longer be flown. [120 kibble].

Recharging 1 stam bar eats all 5k food.

Just 1 quetzal. No other carnivores any where near by, nothing on the volcano on our server except ore.

Quetzal food fixed, but we still can't fly them anywhere So good job devs on fixing the "bug" so our quetzals don't die from too much food. Thankfully they won't die in 24 hours just sitting at home now, so thank you for that one.

But the big problem remains that the quetzals still drain food while losing stamina.

It doesn't matter if this was "intended", because it makes our quetzals completely unusable and unflyable, as it is currently right now. And this must be modified some how.

Possible solutions:

1.) Allow private server owners the ability to disable this entirely, if we want to. 2.) Give server owners a variable to modify so that we can adjust the rate at which food is consumed when stamina drains. 3.) Completely remove it and go back to how it was.

Which ever you choose, something must be done. Quetzals are completely useless as-is now.

Our quetz on primitive can't be used, refilling 1 stam bar eats all of it's 5k+ food.

Yeah I live on an island so I went and flew my 120 kibble tamed quetz out to go get food because it was back down to half food after just sitting in base for a few hours, got to where I went to farm food and watched the quetz use up all it's food to refill less than half its stam bar.

had to get other people to come log in and fly in on pteras to help me keep it alive and harvest food by hand.

Are you refering to the quetz after the 242.3 patch or pre 242.3?

Yep ours on our private server can't be used either. I have two troughs on the platform on the back of mine. I stuffed both troughs completely full of cooked meat at home.. then left home and flew to the volcano (from the eastern shore) and 1 trough was completely empty by the time we got to the volcano. By the time we finished mining up the metal.. flew back home and by the time we landed, 2nd trough was empty.

This was with two mid-air re-stamina-regen periods from empty.

This is completely ridiculous now.. *sigh*

as of the time I posted.

I was still harvesting food with an argy and a wolf just to feed the quetz after I posted.

We lost 2, 1 on 2 servers.

I mean I know we're supposed to quit our jobs and take amphetamines to play ark 24/7, but we forgot to do that so they died while we were offline.

If you're on official servers, then no. Official servers never do rollbacks. If they died, they're gone. Fact of life of playing a pre-release alpha game.

I've played nearly 3000 hours on official since the game became playable, there have been many roll-backs.

 

eg: first biome change where the devs drowned most player tames by raising the water level somehow and trapping dinos underater in their bases.  was a roll back for that.

I can deal with turret nerfs, health nerfs, and weight nerfs (although, I really don't like this one), but the massive amount of food consumption is a little ridiculous.  :-(

 

I did discover one saving grace -- if you never use your sprinting speed, you don't consume food like you do expending stamina.  So it might take longer, but you could slowly fly over to nodes, and slowly fly back, and make sure you have enough food on your bird to use the sprint as an emergency escape.

 

As it is, the food nerf is making me give pause to getting another Quetz.  I might do it anyways, but I definitely won't be getting a lower level bird like I was considering.  The food consumption just wouldn't be justified on a lower bird.
