Prospector In my never ending quest for Glock knowledge I come across a tidbit or two of rare glocks. Seems like the 1st generation Glock 19 is quite rare with about 12 - 20 being made. I read that one sold for $750 back in 2006. One can think it would be about double that today if you can find one. Also the cut-a-way models and the Training models that are only available to LE agencies would be hard to find. I saw a price of $800 for a blue framed G19 T FX for $800. Thats way outside my budget. The .380 Glock are for LEO only. I wonder why this is? Of course I admit I'm not a big fan of the .380, but why is it restricted for Law Enforcement Officers only? It would be the same size and frame as the rest of the Glock family. I can't see any big advantage in the caliber chambering. The Gen 1 and Gen 2's are scarce not necessarily rare and bring maybe a little more than Gen 4's if they are NIB. What's your take on the rare Glocks? I'd be interested in hearing your opinion on the Glocks to look for and the ones you would mortage the farm to get. Prospector See less See more Sort by Oldest first Oldest first Newest first Most reactions #2 · Apr 27, 2012 (Edited) I'm not really a collector, per se, more an accumulator, so rarity and collector value aren't as important to me. However, my take on rare Glocks is that I envision there being an increasing market for them. You must remember that Glocks have only been around within a 30 year window. As such, even the oldest glocks can hardly be considered vintage quite yet. So I think the collector market for rare glocks is just beginning to materialize and will take shape over the next few decades and beyond. For glocks that are rare today, they will only get more rare in the future, and we will see others pop up that become collectible in the future. In addition to the time factor, I believe the market size cuts both ways as far as collectibility. On one hand, there are millions and millions of glocks made and most of them are all the same. This means rare variations will be limited and the market is flooded with glocks to begin with. However, it also means there are a lot of glock owners who potentially will become collectors of rare glocks some day. More potential collectors means a bigger market for rare glocks and therefore higher prices. Add that to the already large list of rare gun collectors who will collect the desirable regardless of manufacturer, and I think we have a recipe for collectibility in the future. Right now the market is in its infancy, but I believe it will develop, at least for the already rare variations, and would also foresee at least an increased collectibility in older gen models that are no longer made as time goes by. With that being said, with the shear volume of most glocks made, they will likely never become collectible, or if they do it would require a LONG time (i.e. couple hundred years). But for the rarer versions, I think we will see more collectibility in our lifetimes. #3 · Apr 30, 2012 The .380 GLOCKS don't meet the necessary import points to be sold to civilians. Gen 1 G19s are chopped frame G17s. I'd still like one though. :) #4 · May 2, 2012 Air gun Trigger Red Automotive exterior Hood Some rare Glocks are the Bell helicopter, Atlanta Olympics, and Desert Storm and my favorite so far that I know is this TALO edition 19,23 by Camfour Dist. #23 · Jan 11, 2026 so I'm a Glock fanatic, I've only owned two so far. a G30 sub compact .45, and a G21 standard .45. I LOVED both just as I did every other Glock I've ever got to fire. bc of this I try to learn any and everything I can about them and I've never heard of the TALO edition. it looks amazing, what finish is on the slide bc it doesn't look like your standard black 0 Reply #5 · May 2, 2012 Speednut that is a beauty for sure. Thanks for posting the picture of it. Prospector #6 · May 7, 2012 I know a guy in TX that owns one of the original generation one Glock 19's. He will not part with, nor will he send me any good photos of it. I did get to hold and shoot it once. #9 · Jun 3, 2012 Must be a "Texas" thang ... My edc is a gen 1 17 with lotsa use "look" on it. I also have a new/unfired gen 1 17 in safe keeping ... Why ? Cause I can ! LOL 0 Reply #7 · May 7, 2012 I went to Eastmans gun show Sat. there was a 'security team' olympic security Glock 17 for $675 don't think he had the case though.I passed don't think many knew what it was. #8 · May 31, 2012 Aftermarket kits do not equate to rare. I have a very early G17L, a G17T, G19 cutaway and a G22P. #10 · Jun 11, 2012 I do wonder what this means? 0 Reply #11 · Jun 11, 2012 I mean that taking a normal Glock and having a non-Glock company make changes to it, does not make it a "rare" Glock. Kind of like if you took your Toyota Camry and had Nascar put an engine in it. Sure, it's cool, but it doesn't make it a "rare" car. It just makes it aftermarket modded. #12 · Jun 11, 2012 I see your point. I sould have said that TALO dist. made few of these Glocks. #13 · Jul 9, 2012 Picked this up yesterday. Not sure how many are in circulation but you don't see them too often: Image #15 · Jul 9, 2012 Thats a good looking 23C with gills and RTFII I dont see that often. Show more replies 0 Reply #14 · Jul 9, 2012 I've seen two ATL Olympic Security Team G17s pop up on local boards recently. I can't recall the price but want to say they were asking $600. They were Gen2s. #16 · Jul 9, 2012 I saw 1 on a local ga. forum. Probably 1 of the same ones you saw. 0 Reply #19 · Jul 9, 2012 By the way there is the Gold inlaid Glock 26 being sold on gun broker. Its 8 grand. Correction I said 1 of 20 made...thats not exactly true I think its 1 of 6 made. #21 · Sep 29, 2012 Shot the match down there sat, had a great time. That's a great range, maybe of thread but what's the oldest sn you've seen? I've got a AA gun bought new in fl in 86 at a gun show. It was 800 back then cause of the plastic pistol thing. Just wondering #22 · Sep 29, 2012 I have a AU and thats the oldest I have seen in person.I also shot the Conyers match but on Sunday. #24 · Jan 11, 2026 Talo projects are different in many ways from a OEM weapon. I am not sure of the coatings they use but the do make some attractive pistols. #25 · Feb 11, 2026 The RTF2 fish gill pistols in 9mm being the 17 and 19 are in demand going for a premium. Along with the Vickers Tactical RTF2 pistols. A G21 RTF2 even more so. Unfortunately the 40 S&W pistols are not as in demand, for now. Insert Quotes Post Reply
