Besides, I like stopping every so often to think about what I just read, the last scene. reply | flag message 5: by Cheryl (new) Jan 20, 2012 12:07PM Cheryl I need to *make* myself do that more often, Ingemar. Thanks for reminding me. reply | flag message 6: by Kyle (new) Feb 09, 2012 02:00PM Kyle Kerr I don't know why, but I timed how long it took me to read one page in a book, and on average it's 2 minutes... I'm a relatively slow reader, so this would take me about 10 hours... reply | flag message 7: by Eyehavenofilter (new) Mar 05, 2012 08:21PM Eyehavenofilter For me it would be about 4.5 hours if I wanted to really get through it fast. Not that I'd remember much , a week or 2 later but 5.5 if I wanted to savor it and enjoy it more and at least recall something! reply | flag message 8: by Ingemar (new) Mar 07, 2012 08:03PM Ingemar it would take me 2 weeks reply | flag message 9: by Ingemar (new) Mar 07, 2012 08:03PM Ingemar 2 weeks or more if i don´t have much time reply | flag message 10: by Ellese (new) Sep 05, 2012 09:02PM Ellese I can't read nonstop...but I do read for long periods of time...I finished the host reading it for several hours over 2 days and that is like...yeah. reply | flag message 11: by Paul (new) Sep 09, 2012 07:50AM Paul I can't read non-stop either, but judging from the pace I read from page to page, it would probably take around 10 to 12 hours. reply | flag message 12: by Katka (new) Sep 28, 2012 02:56AM Katka Not voting - it depends on the book and the language. reply | flag message 13: by Petra (new) Jan 04, 2013 07:48AM Petra I'm 13 so I do read a little slower and it really depends on the book but if its a good one I'm interested in, 4 hours. reply | flag message 14: by Alex (new) Jan 16, 2013 10:45PM Alex Definitely over 12 hours.... yeah I'm a slow reader... each hunger games book took me about 3 days with a total of probably 5-6 hours each day. reply | flag message 15: by Mony (new) Feb 11, 2013 05:11AM Mony over 12 hours .. because English isn't my native language and and it totally depends on the book and how mush free time i have and lately i don't have mush .. school and work .. so yeah it sucks . reply | flag message 16: by Mony (new) Feb 11, 2013 05:11AM Mony over 12 hours .. because English isn't my native language and and it totally depends on the book and how mush free time i have and lately i don't have mush .. school and work .. so yeah it sucks . reply | flag message 17: by Karolina (new) Feb 15, 2013 11:34AM Karolina Ong definitely 3-6 hours. unless the book doesnt hook me in and I'll simply bring it around and force myself to finish it reply | flag message 18: by PinkPanthress (new) Mar 07, 2013 01:53AM PinkPanthress Despite my vote, I would say that it really depends on what I am reading... reply | flag message 19: by JSem (new) Mar 28, 2013 07:53PM JSem Totally depends on the book, but an average of a page a minute for me, so 3-6 hours. reply | flag message 20: by Lostshadows (new) Apr 16, 2013 07:13PM Lostshadows The times I've done it, 1-3 hours. Books that don't pull me in like that would probably take longer. reply | flag message 21: by Barbara (new) Apr 16, 2013 07:12PM Barbara Huskey Most books, probably about 6-7 hours. If it's written James Patterson style, more like 4. reply | flag message 22: by Irina (new) Apr 30, 2013 02:23PM Irina If it's about a book I really like, then I want to savor it but I also read it nonstop. I would probably finish it in 8-9 hours. reply | flag message 23: by Becs (new) May 07, 2013 02:33AM Becs 6 hours or so. But it really depends on the book. If the book is not as absorbing my mind may wonder for a bit even though I haven't put the book down. reply | flag message 24: by Sabrina Conza (new) May 23, 2013 03:09PM Sabrina Conza definitely depends on the book. reply | flag message 25: by Victor (new) May 25, 2013 06:27PM Victor Only bad thing is that I don't read nonstop:/ reply | flag message 26: by Erica (new) Jun 01, 2013 10:47AM Erica Not the quickest. But it really depends on the book. Some are just easier to read others more interesting than some. reply | flag message 27: by Lars (new) Jun 01, 2013 01:56PM Lars Depends on the book and the language. reply | flag message 28: by [deleted user] (new) Jun 03, 2013 10:27PM If it has great descriptions I may want to read them over and over to savor them and that takes longer. reply | flag message 29: by Lowri (new) Jun 04, 2013 10:42AM Lowri Nicholson I suppose it would take me less time if I didn't get distracted by other tech like my phone ... If I didn't have school I would sit outside reading until it was dark ... Then I'd come in and read! reply | flag message 30: by Aryana (new) Jun 08, 2013 07:04AM Aryana Reyes it depends on the book reply | flag message 31: by Ghel (new) Jun 18, 2013 08:26AM Ghel I totally agree with the others, it depends on the book. reply | flag message 32: by Empress (new) Jun 18, 2013 02:16PM Empress Aryana wrote: "it depends on the book"And the language. [native or not] reply | flag message 33: by Tefanie (new) Jun 30, 2013 06:01PM Tefanie I'm a fast reader so if I read a 300-page book nonstop, it will probably take me around 4 hours or so to finish. I also agree with others that it depends on the books. Some books are easy and light to read; 150-page chick-lits usually take me around 2 hours. Other books require more attention; reading The Hunger Games book took me one whole afternoon, the classics require a whole day, Dan Brown-style books require more. You get the idea.Sometimes, if I love the book so much, I read them slowly to savor each scene. The Harry Potter books took me a week or two each. Record goes to the HP and the Order of the Phoenix: I finished it in one month. LOL reply | flag message 34: by Robyn (new) Jul 05, 2013 02:17AM Robyn It really depends on the book reply | flag message 35: by Sealove (new) Jul 08, 2013 02:14AM Sealove It really depends on the book… Some of them we blaze through because they're so exciting, some of them we take our time because they are so good. And of course, setting makes a difference too… When we have peace and quiet, anything goes.Great Poll! reply | flag message 36: by Cleo (new) Jul 10, 2013 11:47AM Cleo This totally does depend on the book; if it's Dickens, it'll take much longer than a middle grade novel. reply | flag message 37: by Easton (new) Jul 13, 2013 01:02PM Easton and if its Shakespeare, your have to go to a dictionary a lot. reply | flag message 38: by Karen (new) Jul 18, 2013 04:29AM Karen It really depends on the book - some authors are easier to read than others.... reply | flag message 39: by Mary Elizabeth (new) Jul 19, 2013 12:15PM Mary Elizabeth 3-4 hours roughly. I only know this because I use to have one of those bookmarks that had a built-in timer. reply | flag message 40: by Dilla (new) Jul 21, 2013 06:21PM Dilla Nanditya Are you kidding? I started to read the Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare and finished it in the midnight. I'm not awesome, I was just got insomnia. reply | flag message 41: by Shankia (new) Jul 31, 2013 11:23PM Shankia Tinsley Ingemar wrote: "I find it hard to concentrate for very long periods of time. I too like to stop and think about what I have read. reply | flag message 42: by Star Shining Forever (new) Aug 11, 2013 02:00AM Star Shining Forever 3-6 hours, like most of the voters ;-) reply | flag message 43: by Nadya (new) Aug 16, 2013 01:22AM Nadya Irsalina it actually depends on the language too. if the book was written in bahasa indonesia, i need like 3 hours or eveb less. but for the english one, it takes me longer than that. but yeah probably 3-6hours. :-) reply | flag message 44: by Emme (new) Aug 23, 2013 05:33PM Emme Melanie wrote: "Though it does depend on the book."Yes. Yes it does. reply | flag message 45: by Julia (new) Sep 01, 2013 06:29PM Julia Dulisse Today I read two 300 page books in a total of 5 hours. But they were really good! I couldn't put them down reply | flag message 46: by Erin (new) Sep 01, 2013 10:24PM Erin V If I have a book that is over 370 pages long then it would take me that long. But 460 pages would take me atleast 14 hours straight reply | flag message 47: by Emme (new) Sep 02, 2013 05:27AM Emme Erin wrote: "If I have a book that is over 370 pages long then it would take me that long. That's sorta funny. reply | flag message 48: by Lindsay (new) Sep 13, 2013 04:35PM Lindsay If it was NOTHING but reading, I would guess about three hours. However, every half hour to hour I need to take a break from the book or else I'll just get antsy and become all too aware of other things I need to be doing. Also, the type of book may change my answer. reply | flag message 49: by William (new) Sep 21, 2013 08:28PM William Kiely I read slower than average audio book readers read out loud. reply | flag message 50: by Vivian (new) Sep 26, 2013 03:18PM Vivian If the book is of normal size, doesn't have pictures/lots of blank pages to separate chapter, if I read it thoroughly without "read-skimming" where I read it and don't absorb it fully, and if I'm not tired/brain-dead, it would take me approxiamately 3-6 hours. reply | flag « previous 1 2 3 4 5 next » back to top post a comment » Add a reference: Book Author Search for a book to add a reference add: link cover Author: add: link photo all polls create a poll widget
