Each Ready-to-Grow mushroom block has been infused with lion’s mane mushroom culture and is ready to begin fruiting upon receipt. Produce healthy lion’s mane mushrooms right on the kitchen counter! The kit includes Lion’s Mane Mushroom Grow Block instructions.

Mushroom fruiting will begin within 1-2 weeks of initiating the kit. Blocks will produce mushrooms throughout 2-4 flushes over 1-2 months, depending on the care provided.

Lion’s mane mushrooms, also known as Bear’s Head, Monkey’s Head, or properly Hericium erinaceus, are a wonderfully fun mushroom to grow. It is a tooth fungus that produces a cascade of tooth-like growths from which spores are released. It has a flavor, some say, reminiscent of shellfish, but we think it tastes more like a vegetable than a mushroom. It is a gift that keeps giving, treated right, Lion’s Mane Kits will have several flushes over a few months.

Lion’s mane is also prized for medicinal properties, having been used by traditional Chinese medicinal practitioners to treat stomach ailments. The mushroom contains nerve growth stimulant factor compounds known as erinacines and hericenones. These compounds stimulate the regrowth of neurons and may be significant in the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of neural degeneration. Lion’s mane is indeed a brain food mushroom!
