The Cobalt Petrified Wood is a special material and a unique item featured in Red Dead Redemption 2. In the video game developed by Rockstar Studios, it is required for the Boar Tusk Talisman.

Unlike other special materials, you can find the Cobalt Petrified Wood through exploration.

The good news though is that you can retrieve the Cobalt Petrified Wood in Red Dead Redemption II, starting Chapter 2.

Where to Find the Cobalt Petrified Wood:

The Cobalt Petrified Wood is inside a hidden chest, north-west of Lake Isabella, located in the Ambarino territory in the Grizzlies West. Below, you can see the Cobalt Petrified Wood‘s map location.

Look for it under a large rock, close to a cart and a frozen corpse. Below you can see the exact in-game location of the chest containing this unique item.

How To Reach The Ambarino Territory?

The location of Cobalt Wood is quite simple, but retrieving it can be a massive pain considering you need to venture deep into an area of extreme snow.

In order to protect yourself from blizzards, it’s advisable to pack some warm clothes. However, you don’t need to spend any extra on this since the Winter Gunslinger Outfit is quite fitting for a journey of this nature.

Arthur has this outfit by default, so just head to the wardrobe, and make the outfit switch. From there, it’s time to head to Valentine or Strawberry, so you can begin your journey to Ambarino.

Go to Lake Isabella, and move toward its northern end. Now, don your explorer’s hat, and scout for a wagon, and a cave.

There’s a frozen corpse of a woman near the correct wagon, so if you’re somewhere else, it’s time to backtrack!

Once you reach the wagon, just hop on top of it, and open the goodies inside the chest located inside it!

How to Use the Cobalt Wood:

After you find the Petrified Wood you can use it at the Fence to craft the Boar Tusk Talisman. For this, you will also need the tusk from a Legendary Boar, and a Gold Earring. Additionally, you have to pay $31.00.
